|
|
Hi everyone,
I will be going to Luang Prabang next month and wanted to ask about the quality of the high speed Internet access that is available in hotels and Internet cafes. I will need to maintain Dave's ESL Cafe when I'm there, so I'm wondering how it compares to the US or, for that matter, Thailand. Any advice and suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks!

I only came across one or two internet cafes in LP and the speed was terrible, the connection was often down in the week or so I spent there too in all the cafes, seemed to be a constant problem. Really hard to even do some basic web browsing or checking of emails as the speed was so slow. Surprised me as Vang Vieng, which is in the middle of nowhere, had an internet cafe with some of the best internet speeds I've seen anywhere when travelling. LP is defo NOT on par with Thailand. |

Thanks for the info. How long ago were you in Luang Prabang? |

According to an ex-girlfriend of mine who left LP in Summer 2010, high speed adsl @ 256kbs was her best choice. Right before leaving she switched to USB HPSA modem, but it didnt perform anywhere NEAR what it was advertised as----instead of something like 7.2 Mbps she could only get it going at around 1.5Mbps. Lao Telecom's English option should provide other services (?) |
