With the BBC, British Council, and Cambridge, you pretty much have the 3 big players in this whole English industry.

Are there any American English resources that come close to the size and scope of those 3 power players?

ETS is a big American one, particularly through testing systems.

I can�t think of anything. When I use textbooks I tend towards British ones, they are better done, at least the ones I have seen. For whatever reason ESL is not really a big industry in the US like it is in Britain. MacMillian has some decent books, but I am not sure about a whole program. Anyone?

Content-wise it looks the British are much more visible commercially, but the US State Department and Department of Education are very invested abroad, more directly through international schools, curricula, and teacher training.

You're bang-on about BBC...love the language programs they have. They've faced some cutbacks this year unfortunately but there is still not much out there that beats it.
