I met an FAO through a friend of a friend. she invited me to visit her campus. I did and was impressed. although old - the school was really well maintained. one of the nicest facilities I've seen in China. students who were smiling and ready to talk to me about their classes and teachers. did I give her a resume? - you bethca red rider.
upon my return to the school I presently have a contract with (which I have not made up my mind as to re-signing for another year) I find an e-mail mentioning the FAO I just met at "the other school" from the FAO at my present school.
This is really to much, so I call and e-mail a few freinds at other schools.
Ah, ha, all the FAO's went to the same undergraduate school - they are all classmates. China is sooooooo BIG - right?
Well, not that big when the FAO's in one province know the FAO's in another province.
I am starting to feel like a freshly butchered pig that is up for bid.
Anyone else have this experience?

I have found that the FAOs all in one city often know each other because they seem to have meetings together and training sessions and bump into each other at the visa office, stuff like that. However I have never found it going cross province before. Scary...maybe there is a big conspriaracy going on here! Cool

All public FAOs meet once a year at Provincial conclaves and once a year at regional ones.

They call each other for advice, help, and recommendations on former teachers.

Yes they do network and the network is expanding.
