Dear Dedicated,

True, but that's only for cocaine. As far as illegal drug use goes (and it goes pretty far,) we're still NUMBER ONE (with a bullet.)

"Indeed. Since this country criminalized drug use, Americans have used more drugs. A World Health Organization survey of 17 countries shows the U.S. has the highest level of illegal drug use in the world. Nearly 43 percent of Americans report using marijuana. In the Netherlands, which has far more liberal drug policies, 19.8% reported using marijuana."

"In the United States, which has the world's highest levels of use, the NGO Drug Policy Alliance estimates that official bodies spend $51 billion a year fighting drugs."

Our tax dollars hard at work.

John

Perhaps all those cocaine-sniffing Scots are working up their courage and energy to leave the union? Cool

Just 'cos you ain't invited to our party doesn't mean you have teh go phoning the chang!

I am amazed anyone has the benefits necessary to fund a cocaine habit these days.

In Dundee, almost one in ten children are born to a mother who has seen less than 18 winters.

Glasgow frequently tops lists of the most violent places to live in Europe.

Alcohol consumption in Scotland is depressingly reflective of the national stereotype.

Twisted Evil Given all this, why is life still so much better in Scotland than in England? Twisted Evil

Dear GuestBob,

Well, believe it or not, there could be some people who might think that drugs, alcohol (a bit redundant, there,) and sex (maybe even violence, too) ARE the "good life." Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

John

Sad but true, Bob. Scotland is among the leaders in many categories, heart and bowel disease, alcoholism, lung cancer, violent crime etc. I think one reason may be the depressing climate. But what do I know, Im only a common old working chap who was born in Glasgow. The day we get independence there will be more champagne drunk in London than in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

I'm disappointed...

I have always wanted to travel to Scotland.

I guess I'll save my money for Amsterdam instead.

Cool
