Okay, so Eurobound may not be Eurobound after all but may be returning to Asia with his tail between his legs
My question is has anyone had any experience with Kelly Consulting? Was it good, bad, disastrous, indifferent? They're advertising on Dave's at the moment and can apparently find you a teaching position in Sichuan.
I can't find anything about them on the internet. Any info' is appreciated.
Cheers
PS - Here's the ad' if anyone is interested...

Sounds like a reasonable advertisement. Sichuan is not an easy sell. See how they are trying to contrast it with Beijing and Shanghai?
I would be more alarmed if it seemed like they expected you to come. You aren't working for the recruiter. Decide if you want to live there and talk to the schools. |

Hotmail, Gmail, and Yahoo email addresses are always signs of a professional company! Why, they're so rich and successful that they've purchased the aforementioned domains.
Beware of wide salary ranges. It just means you'll get the lesser of the amounts offered (I was offered a job in neighboring Chongqing for 3.5K/mo (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) as that is what they pay a PhD holder).
As many posters say, do your research and find the very same schools that are hiring without a recruiter. |

Thanks for these replies.
Didn't go with this lot in the end. They got me to fill out a questionnaire detailing the type of job I was after (location, age of students etc) and then kept sending me jobs that didn't match up to my specifications in any way, shape, or form. They then seemed confused and even a bit narky when I turned them down.
Nevermind, the search continues... |

He signs his name Jerry Luo.
In a recent message to me, he seemed to be a member of the local Sichuan population.
I've talked to him on the phone, and he sounds British.
So it seems that he has travelled either in Britain or a Commonwealth country.
Could this be the person you're talking about? |

Has anyone hired through this recruiter lately? I'm talking to him now and I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

My advice is don't worry so much about the recruiter and look more at the school and the contract. All recruiters serve exactly the same function and that is to get a foreigner to a school and get paid. |

Actually, I just declined his job offer and went to another uni. What bothered me about the contract was that he was my actual employer and not the uni. Kind of strange. On top of that, the contract listed the amount per hour I would get paid but not the minimum or maximum number of hours I would actually work. The contract called for 2 hours of office time, but said nothing about teaching time. He told me I would work 18 hours but wouldn't put it in writing. Don't know how common this is but it just didn't set right with me.
Anyway, I took a job with a uni in AnYang that pays more and is very straightforward as far as I can tell.

Seems this guy is acting as an agency instead of a recruiter. You made the right choice. Always sign directly with the school. |
