Dear It's Scary,
Be honest now - doesn't Saudi sometimes seem like a dream these days (OK, a BAD dream, probably, but still a dream.)
Regards,
John |
Dear John:
Like I tell my Saudi students when they ask me about my feelings about Saudi ( Implicitly knowing how many in our country feel about Saudi Arabia...w/o actually taking the time to live there like you and I)...I reply, "Saudi is Saudi"...which you and I understand is, Saudi is what you make of it.
We, both of us, if I might, don't want someone going "there" w/o knowing what awaits.
Really, if you can handle it, you can. But, we have both experienced "bad" Saudi reactions.

Dear It's Scary,
True - Saudi is not for everyone. I think you have to be a little weird (as we both are - and scot47 is) to last there.

Yes, but if you want to last there, the key question is...
Are you weird???

| lol, we are all a little wierd... Yes, very "different", but America would be wierd for them, China is weird for Austrailians, etc... Ive always been able to adjust and I take things as they come, I embrace everything, and expect nothing to be what im use to. |

'merica is weird for them. So far, I've had a Saudi deported for a DWI and a Afghani deported for God knows what! I taught the Saudi for two days and never laid eyes on the Afghani!
