CAUTION!:
They are aware of their bad reputation and are now using recruiters to do a "switch and bait" with foreign teachers.
A recruiter will tell you that the job is in nearby Shenyang or Dalian, then the school will sign you on, then transfer you to their 'sister branch' (sell you to the school) in Panjin.
1. Always ask for the name of the school
Why should they get your name, photo, passport number, educational background, shoe size, date of birth, etc. but then they refuse to tell you their school's name?
2. Ask for references
They want references from previous employers. So, you want references from previous teachers. If the school says that "it has never had a foreign teacher before" then it's a bold-faced lie and stay clear.
Here is a part of one of their advertisements:
Panjin is a clean and fresh city in the north east of China. We are 1 hours flight from Beijing and 3 hours by plane to Shanghai, and also 3 hours highway by bus to Dalian. We have an incredibly clean atmosphere with a huge Foreign presence (yes, we have McDonalds and KFC here). Its very easy to get any kind of food you would want to eat.
The city we are in is Panjin City, not that big, and here in the city there are not many foreign teachers. So there is really much we can do and we can change together, especially in English teaching, please trust me!
1. Not that it is a selling point, but are no McDonald's in Panjin. They Lie.
2. It is not very easy to get any kind of food you want to eat. They Lie.
3. There is no 'huge' foreign presence here. There are 3 western teachers working here with a couple Africans thrown in for good measure. They Lie.
4. It ends with "please trust me!" Why does the school have to beg other people to trust them?
Don't get sucked in. |

The school has changed names.
Careful anyone offered a position in Panjin. Panjin is a wonderful city, but the school itself will ruin you. |
