|
|
Hello - ooh my first post. Apologies if anything of this nature has already been posted, I couldn't see anything in my search.
Does the YL extension exist in Thailand? I've briefly visited the British Council's website, and though I can't find the link now, it seemed to indicate to me that the course was run somewhere in Bangkok. However, I am struggling to find details anywhere.
I'm from the UK, have a BA (Hons) in Drama and English Language, and recently completed the CELTA. I've also briefly taught in BKK for 6 months previous to my CELTA.
Is there much point to me doing the YL extension anyway? I'm pretty sure I will be able to find work without it, that's not really why I'd want to do it, more so because I don't really feel properly equipped to teach young children. Any suggestions? Or other courses I could take?
Or should I stop being stupid and just find a job... ?!
Thanks

I have been told that the YL extension is no longer on offer by Cambridge ESOL (discontinued earlier this year).
Just get a job.

I think it's the full CELTYL that's discontinued... They're doing the YL extension at the school in Hove, UK where I did my CELTA I believe.
(Yes I could go there... why delay being in Thailand however) |

ECC Thailand is offering a YL extension on Oct. 17 that I'm hoping to attend. I emailed and they suggested I check back in July; they need at least 8 people to sign up before they'll have the class. Feel free to join me!

hi,
this might be too late but I enquired about it too-
ECC are not running the YL extension and are not authorised to by cambridge although they are still advertising it.
british council replied and said the following-
"We run the CELTYLX intensively once a year in our Chiang Mai centre and this course is open to external participants. It costs in the region of 600GBP/ course and runs from April-May. Exact dates and price for 2012 have not been decided.
We also run courses in Bangkok but they are internal because they are run extensively over 10 weeks which would be prohibitively expensive for an external participant." |

Wow, thanks lexharvey for sharing that! I'm glad I didn't attempt to sign up with them. I figured I should just get a job first and go from there. |
