As I said, I quite like HCMC and Vietnam. That being said, there is a big increase in crime here, especially in District 1. It is necessary to be mindful and careful. Poverty side by side with wealth usually equals crime. The wealth here is rather mind-boggling these days. So is the poverty.

I would go further to say that the wealth gap in Saigon is a sickness that is eating away at the place. The rich Vietnamese also seem to be very 'unsubtle' with their money. My girlfriend is from Danang and she didn't enjoy Saigon last time we were there, most Vietnamese still have fairly simple tastes but many are now learning how to be a$$$@#'s. Such is the way of things.

I agree that the newly rich can be a bit much. Happens anywhere. I just wish they had the skills and the manners to be driving those SUVs. Otherwise, they can be amusing in their gaucheness.

cool, thanks for the info. does it take a while to get set up in HCMC with work and stuff. It sounds like people really have to be active to find enough hours to put money in the bank, pu is it fairly easy to get 10 to 20 hours to start?
