Of course there will be trouble from even the worst and most undeserving AETs, given the demands and dodgy deductions that BL and other crap dispatchers make - "the penny drops" in every sense! Not sure though that all AETs would deserve the pay and benefits of direct hire, but then, even the full package probably isn't good enough to attract more "qualified" teachers.

Sleazebags is too kind. Borderlink waited until to the Ome City contract was renewed before kicking me out. To the BL staff in Omiya who read these things: Mr. Ludd is allowing me to use this site. If you want to read some really disturbing comments about your low-life organization, go to Google and type in "Borderlink, crap on a stick." This will take you to the site that really rips into BL. By the way, if you do write directly to Will Holdings with honest complaints, they will take them seriously. Was contacted by them after my complaints, they listened and seemed concerned.

Oh man, this is not reassuring. I'm planning to move to Japan after I graduate college in December and this is the sole company I've been offered a job to. I was so excited until I really started doing some research on the company and reading the reviews. Is it really THAT bad? Has anyone had any good experiences?

Nova was a huge Ekaiwa chain that specialized in "anytime lessons" for their customers. They had branches all over Japan and employed hundreds of foreigners. A few years ago (2007 I think), Nova ran into serious financial trouble. They began expanding too quickly and ended up so far in the red they couldn't see straight. They did not pay their employees for months, yet still required them to work in order to maintain their jobs. People living in Nova sponsored apartments were not having their rent paid by Nova and consequently were served eviction notices. One day Nova boarded up all of their schools and the president went AWOL, leaving thousands of people with no jobs and no money. Eventually the company was bought up by GCom and I think (not positive) they are slowly paying back what is owed.

What company are you working for Chris? If it's Borderlink, there's a lot of information on them on the other threads here and at:
