Dear all,

I've had it with my current employer, and intend to leave during the coming Eid break, and not return. The problem is, I think if I give them notice, then they will attempt to shaft me out of money, perhaps as much as 1 month's salary. I want to avoid this. It's also highly unlikely they would give me an NOC.

I don't want to work in Saudi Arabia again, at least not in the near future anyway, but I would like to possibly work in one or more of the other GCC countries. I've heard it can affect your employment within the GCC if you apply to work anywhere within it, but your current Saudi work permit isn't cancelled. I also won't be leaving on a final exit visa, either. Will this complicate things a lot?

What's the best course of action for me to take? Can I fix the NOC/exit visa paperwork esituation simply by getting a new passport? Do you think iris and finger print info will be shared with other GCC authorities? Will this matter?

Thanks, and please pm me if you can.

Bulgogiboy

Man, and I can remember when you were all hot to get there! Like my wife's apron says, "If you can't stand the Heat, get out of the Kingdom!"

It's not your fault, Bulgogiboy, you're about 5 years late to reasonable employment in the Kingdom!

Unless things have changed... one country in the Gulf doesn't much care if you have an uncancelled work visa for any other Gulf country. They only care if you have what is needed for their work visa laws.

Now if you defrauded a Saudi bank and they have a warrant out on you... they may very well pick that up with their security checks. But, I don't think you've been there long enough. Laughing

Nope, no bank fraud. I don't think Saudi is the place to turn criminal, at least not as a wastaless non-believer. Laughing

I was told that for (legal) employment in Qatar you had to cancel your Saudi work permit first.

So just getting a new passport solve all NOC/visa problems within Saudi then?

Other GCC countries are not interested. Just go.

I concur with what VS and scot47 have advised. No need to "wash" - Qatar doesn't give a hoot about Saudi work permits.
As for GCC countries "sharing" info, you're kidding, right Very Happy Very Happy

John

But...but...they're brothers, right? Confused

It's like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (as in the Sudairi Seven)!

Ok, thanks everyone. It's just the recruiters seem so adamant about it. I wonder why? Oh well...

Dear bulgogboy,

Well, despite appearance, we don't know everything. If it'll make your mind rest easier to wash it, why not? It'll cost you some bucks, though Very Happy.

John

Contrary to what others have said, Qatar will not issue a Residence Permit if the passport shows a valid RP from another GCC country. That has to be cancelled first in order to issue a Qatari RP.

Dear bulgogiboy,

I've done a search and found conflicting answers - here's a thought: given your situation, would it be possible for you to call the Qatari embassy and ask?

Regards,
John

John,

If I go for the job I think I'll just take your first piece of advice and change it anyway. Better safe than sorry.

Cheers,

Dear bulgogiboy,

I'd probably try a call first - but, to yell you the truth, I'd likely wash it no matter what answer I got. I'm not terribly confident about getting the right info from any embassy Very Happy .

Regards,
John
