On second thoughts
Who did you give your passport to?
Will you be accommodated in a hotel or in a compound? |

| I thinking about accepting an offer from WEG (World Education Group) for a position at PNU starting in two weeks. I see there was a post from someone who landed in Saudi and had a good experience with the recruiter. Could you tell me what school you are working for and what recruiter? |

Okay guys, some of my insight.
World Ed Group is hiring on behalf of SBC and so is Adwaa, furthermore they are hiring on behalf of Princess Nourah Uni.
So the question is - who pays higher and who has better benefits.
You'll be doing the same thing at both jobs I presume.
I have a contract, yet to begin with Adwaa - I stopped my application with WEG when I noticed it is also for SBC.
Adwaa is good. They are trying a lot harder than the big outfit - EDUCATION EXPERTS and their contract, in contrast to EdEx is so much simpler, and employee friendly..
EdEx should be a last resort, simply because the contract literally tells you that they can force you to work 48 hrs over 6 days, and send you anywhere in the Kingdom - in reality I doubt they would do this - but its there. It also says that they can fire you, with no compensation - but if you leave, you can get fined (which means they won't pay your outstanding hours - so they most likely do this).
I say Adwaa is looking good. |

A person here has spread the word to not work for Adwaa based on him not wanting to give up his passport, and fighting about it.
Then he goes onto say that they paid for his hotel, and paid for his transport back to wherever he wanted to go.
In other words - they took care of him.
He didn't want to give his passport, guess what - they all take it. It is the way business with expats is done there. Tell me I'm mistaken? |

You're mistaken. My last job there I kept both my passport (with a multiple exit/re-entry visa) and iqama. How'd I do it? I simply insisted (as did others).

They don't all do it - but many do. And once you're there and your employer asks for it (and they ALL have to ask for it, even if only to get your iqama,) good luck trying to get it back if your employer is one of those that likes to hold onto them.

John |

Do they all apply for an iqama on your behalf?
If so, what is the point in paying out for a multiple entry
work visit visa?
Also, who did that lady hand her passport over to? |

Dear waiting for godot,
"Do they all apply for an iqama on your behalf?"
Only if you're there on a legitimate work visa.
"If so, what is the point in paying out for a multiple entry
work visit visa?"
If you have an employer who will return your passport to you, having a multiple entry visa (I'm don't know what you mean by "a multiple entry
work visit visa" since a work visa is not a visit visa and vice versa) means that you can get out of Saudi whenever you want.
"Also, who did that lady hand her passport over to?"
I can't say for sure, not having witnessed the handover, but most people turn over their passports to someone in their employer's HR (Human Resources) Department.
Regards,
John |

Dear John,
I got the police to help out after they saw the driver harrasing me for 2 hours in front of the hotel on video with all my belonging being held in the boot of his car plus the witnesses from the street.
Adwaa was made to pay for all expenses until I could arrange to leave Riyadh. The driver takes your passport at the airport...and gives you 1000 riyals
(It cost 20,000 riyals or more to get out of Saudi after the company does not return it)
This happen on September 8th 2011 |

Temorary visa's of any kind can not be converted to Iqcomas in Saudi....If someone says yes they can please do not come to Saudi with that kind of promise in mind..
Something is very wrong....
I say Turkonline knows Adwaa very well! mmmmm
No one paid for my transportation home although I was told I would be deported to my country by Adwaa and that turned out to be a lie too! |

I would agree with Turkz, it's about who will support the teachers the best way possible. It seems there are several agencies basically recruiting for two outfits (SBC and Ed Ex). Regardless of which recruiter, they seem to flow into these two outfits.
The question is, which one will better support the teachers? So far, it doesn't sound at all like it's Ed Ex. I also received a contract for 48 hours at 6 days a week. Although they indicate that it's unlikely to happen. Well, if it's in the signed contract, the likelihood can change without permission.
Regarding the passport issue, it does sound like you will have to relinquish it to get the proper documents. Something I myself am very ambivalent to do. But if I am working for the employer, surely I will have a better possibility of getting it back. These agencies seem to have a strong and even desperate need for teachers. We may have to trust them with our documents until we see otherwise. What would be the benefit in completely abusing teachers upon arrival after having invested so much in getting them to KSA?
So far, SBC seems to be [more] credible than the others. I have heard from several folks having arrived in KSA and having a very tough time with Ed Ex. So much so, they are already leaving. |

Surely? Trust? You might be in for a great shock. We're talking about Saudi Arabia, folks. When you're there, you're theirs.
Good luck with it.

While that is a question that we ask ourselves repeatedly while reading the Saudi board, it is painfully obvious that this concept never occurs to most of them.

Hellooo everybody
My name is Sofiya and I recently got an offer from Adwaa...
about 4 days ago, to teach at PNU.
I've sent all my documents through which they need to verify and then will send me a contract so I start pretty much after Hajj - it's with SBC.
I also had an offer from Khaleej institute to teach in either Tabuk or Jouf University...but I am thinking of taking up the PNU offer.
Has anyone been offered a job at either Tabuk or Jouf before??
The Khaleej institute seem ahem...a bit more organised than Adwaa...
They don't seem to reply to my emails promptly
Is anyone here already working at PNU who can give me more information?
Lovely to meet you all on here!!
