I have recently returned to Thailand after over 4 years away. I have found a job but I only have a tourist visa. I know that a Tourist visa can be changed to a Non-Imm'B' in Bangkok. But I recently heard that the Immigration office in Bangkok is no longer is Soi Suan Plu. Can anyone tell me the new location or even address please ? Much appreciated.

Sorry for the Typo error. I meant to say 'in Soi Suan Plu'.

This is now on the government complex at Chaengwattana. Tht's about 4-5 miles past the old Don Muang Airport. A cab from Silom will cost up to 300b, depending on his route and the traffic. Unfortunately, there is no "easy option" of taking the BTS, apart from saving money by going as far north as possible (Morchit) and then taking a cab. There is an old Thai railway station in the area of the new office, but still a hike. Anyway, the trains are branch line and slow, so don't even consider it.

In Jamjuri Square complex (near Chulalongkorn U) there is a one-stop shop for some small things like certain kinds of renewals, but you need to be careful to check what they WON'T do there. All of the bigger stuff has to be done at the new place. I even do my 90-day at the new place now.

(By the way--I was at the new airport last month, and the desk which supplies re-entry permits has reappeared, which makes sense. However, it may go again, so please check and don't rely on my note here).

Always go to any of these offices EARLY (8.30-9.00) because long queues develop. Also, everybody stops for LUNCH at 12.00--there is no split shift--so you need to cram everything in early or else wait over lunch.

The new offices have vast food halls, banks and bakeries in the basement.

Google "bus to chaengwattana" or "city bus to chaengwattana" or simliar. I believe it's bus #52, 8 baht, caught at Mochit station. Tell them "thor mor chaeng wattana." There are like three other bus lines going around that area, I think one is aircon but can't remember. 52 always did fine for me.

A half day is perfectly fine. In the year and a half I lived there I went up 5 + times, usually left apartment around 2pm, got on skytrain to mochit, caught bus from mochit by 3, got to immigration by or before 4 (pushing it a little). Of course you might have a longer wait later in the day, I usually got out by or after 5. Go a little earlier to be sure. No need to catch moto or taxi if you have a half day.
