Hi everyone,
I had an interview for a school I'd really like to work for, and was wondering how long it takes them to say yes or no, generally speaking? |

There is no worldwide standard. Customs vary. Where is the school? |

They were looking to hire someone very soon. Should I send an email reaffirming my interest in the position, or just leave it? |

Generally only short-listed applicants will be contacted. But if you were told they were considering your application, I'd contact them again... (Horizons International School?) |

Hi toteach,
Yes, it was Horizon. I did send an email but I haven't heard back yet. I will take that to mean that I did not get the position.
I'm finding it fairly difficult to find anything; I have an MA and *some* experience (not a lot), but very few offers. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. |

Dear Breacan,
I do sympathise with your situation.
I had an interview last Friday for quite a good position with an International School. They said they would get back to me on Wednesday. Nothing. I have sent a couple of emails and still nothing.
I also have an MA (one I actually worked for on-campus), CELTA, and 3.5 years on the CV, including some work at a UK uni.
One thing is for sure - my future as an English teacher is not in the UK.
Regards
Stan |

Stan: I understand. I think our collective futures as anything are probably outside of the UK/US at this point.
They did get back to me this morning, but are offering me a different position than the one I interviewed for. I am still considering. |
