I'm wondering about getting a residency permit and moving cities. As the rules for Antalya are different from Istanbul, I know it's not just generally good for Turkey.

Specifically, I'm wondering about going to Izmir, applying for a permit there, and moving back to Istanbul if things don't work out. (Seems more sensible than the reverse, given what I've heard about Izmir.) Would I get away with flat-out moving cities, and if not, is there a way to change the residency permit?

If you get a resident permit (let's say in Izmir) and then decide to move to another address (within the city or to another city) you are suppose to notify them (the officials at the Emniyet) within 48 hours, according to the rules in the residence permit booklet. If you change jobs you have to notify the authorities in 15 days.

You keep your same residence booklet regardless of what city you move to. They just type in the new changes and stamp it.
