If you mean a REAL (as in Cambridge branded CELTA) then the places closest to where you are now would be the cheapest.
Airfare and visa expenses to the country you want to take the course in can be about 1/3 of the total costs and living expenses while you are on the course (if not included in your package) also adds up to a significant portion of the total cost.
Most centers will have the costs (with and without accommodation) posted on their websites. You can find ALL the global CELTA centers at:
http://www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/celta/index.html .
If you mean a generic TESOL/TEFL/TESL course, then it will depend on what you need. Costs range from $160 for a cheap on-line course to about $3000 for a university (1 semester) "credit" course at a community college in your home country.

But online courses are generally neither useful in giving you practical experience nor are they wanted by employers. Also, employers who stating a preference advertise for teachers with either the CELTA or the Trinity; so these increase your chances of getting a job. As the previous respondent suggested, you need to take into account overall costs as well as just the fees; in this case, I am considering the greater post-course purchasing power of a recognised certificate. |

CELTA has started an online, blended learning cert. You'll still have to do practice teaching, but it'll be less time in country. |

I've just been doing a lot of research on university TESOL certificate programs in California and was very surprised (though, considering it's CA, I shouldn't have been...) to see how expensive they are compared to the CELTA course at St Giles in San Francisco that I'm thinking of doing. The cheapest one was $3500 and there were some that went much higher than that (even up to $8000!) They were also much longer - most were at least 2 semesters.
I really thought that a Cal State/UC certificate would be much cheaper for CA residents but it turns out that that isn't the case at all.

That "sticker shock" is experienced nationwide; tuition hikes have been a constant occurrence over the past few years. You're smart to shop around. |

Ceske Budejovice (Czech Republic) $1690 including accommodation. Cheap place to live for a month, which is also stunningly beautiful. Also the home of Budweiser beer |
