I can usually use the forum search just fine. In fact, I was using it this morning. However, in the last few hours, any time I do a search, I just get a blank screen. After trying that a few times, I decided to use the site search in the top right corner instead of the forum search. When I tried it, I got a message that says:
We're sorry...
... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
See Google Help for more information.
I ran my virus scanning software and also did an online scan. My computer is clean so I know I don't have any malware that could be attacking the site. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how I can fix it?
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I couldn't find a support forum. |

Sometimes it does that. Just be patient and try again later. |

Its been two days now and I still get that message any time I try to search. I've tried from my laptop and desktop, so I know it isn't a virus or something. I've reset the router as well, with no luck.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem, or is it just my account? |

The search function is working for me today, but I have experienced the same thing you've described. I don't know why it works sometimes and not others. For a while I could search single words, but would get a blank page when I submitted a query with multiple terms using AND or NOT. A number of posters have made reference to difficulties trying to search, so yours is not an isolated problem. |

Yeah, I've always had problems with multiple word searches, which is slightly frustrating, but now that I can't search at all, it has brought the frustration to a new level.
You would think that with the size of this website and the money it brings in, they would be able to make it functional, especially since setting up forums that work properly is a very easy and straightforward thing to do. This is the only community-oriented website that I visit that can't seem to figure it out. |

You can contact them directly and try explaining the problem you're having. I've never bothered doing this, but it's probably worth a shot. There is a "Contact" link at the bottom of the page in the center. |

Do you use the "Search for all terms" function? That works the best (for me, anyway.)

I'm not having any issues, I search for all terms or by author. |

Use google and include "Dave's ESL Cafe forums" as part of your search. |
