|

Hello everyone. I need some guidance and/advice regarding my current situation. I'm not sure this is a question about contracts, holidays, or administration in general, but few weeks ago I signed a contract to teach at PNU through Adwaa. I understood that the position would begin after the holiday (the contract does specify an October or November commencement but no specific date), however, as of today I have not heard anything from the recruiter for two weeks. I have emailed them but have yet to receive any kind of reply. Yes, I am aware of the holiday, but this still seems odd.
Is this normal business practice for KSA? Or is it a subtle way to break the contract after it has been signed if the agency decides they have changed their mind about hiring someone? Should I be looking for something else? I have been looking on the boards for this info but have trouble with the search engine and haven't found much.
Thanks! |

Dear Bellatrix,
Ditto. I am in a similar situation to yours, and there are a few other female teachers I've spoken to on here who are having complications trying to contact Adwaa, they're not communicating with anyone at the moment. I had my interview about two weeks ago with Adwaa and was offered the job on the spot, I was told to send all my documents to get the visa process kick started and thereafter I would receive the contract, when asked when the approximate start date would be, I was told around the end of November. I've emailed Adwaa many times (as have others) demanding to know what the status of our applications is but they have gone AWOL.
I've not even received my contract yet. I thought I'd give them at least two weeks as I thought heck, they're probably trying to bunch together as many teachers as possible before they send us off on our merry way,and with the Hajj and Eid ul Adha holidays etc.
I am concerned though as I'm having to turn down other offers as I'm relying on them. Maybe that's a bad idea, I feel it's a bit fishy.
I sent them another email this morning asking whether I am actually being offered the job or not, whether they are wasting my time, as I've only been offered the job verbally.
If I don't hear from them in the next few days then I'm going to accept an offer from another recruiter, because this is a waste time.
You are not alone

Hello sofaspud, and thanks for the reply.
I also have a pm from someone else in a similar situation to mine in the sense that they have already signed a contract. Apparently the agency has been in touch with some of us recently, albeit sporadic, but so far we all agree that the conduct is fishy. I myself have heard nothing for 2 solid weeks, and that last email was one sentence saying there was a delay because of the holiday. I'm dissapointed since dealing with Adwaa Rabia was going fairly well until this point.
I agree that it feels like a stupid waste of time to and indicates either a serious staff shortage or a certain level of disorganization and/or incompetence.
I'm giving them until Tuesday before I move on, I think. It seems totally contradictory and counter-productive to be so urgently looking for teachers and then dissappear. Half the teachers they hired could very well have taken other contracts by now, and here are three of us on the verge of doing the same. |

All staff in KSA were on holiday until the 12th Nov since 2nd Nov.
may be that's why you may not have heard anything yet? |

I have taken that into consideration, and have since been informed that the office returned to work just yesterday. And they have been communicating with OTHER teachers during the holiday. I'll try to keep waiting, but can anyone tell me how long I should wait before moving on, especially since I already signed a contract?
Thanks! |

If you haven't heard from them and are running out of time look out for something else in the mean time. Keep all options open, just because you signed a contract, it don't mean anything. The real contract will be in KSA with the ministry of labour. You will sign this when you get there. |
