Hi
I have been interviewed and offered a position. However they did not accept my references so I renewed them. Its been 72 hours and I did not hear back from them. I am constantly refreshing my email
The women who interviewed me loved me at the interview. But now I have a feeling that there is a change of mind. I want to jump out the window. I liked the people so much. Its rare to have such a positive interview. Usually the other party tries to hide their feelings.
I have contacted them and they told me there are a hundreds of applicants and that I should wait. --- its a cliche right????? i ve lost this opportunity right? boohooo...
would I bee too desperate if I contacted them again. can anyone tell me what to do. or what to say...
everything was going so fast and smooth... :...(

How and why does someone "renew references"? It would seem to me that it is their responsibility to contact references if they wish to confirm things.

Renewing references probably means updating any contact info. People often change addresses or telephone numbers.
My veiled sentiments...

What does "plz close" mean?
Locked? Deleted?
Threads are only locked or deleted if there is a problem like a political or religious argument or individuals who get on a rampage over something.

is this the only forum you ve been to? I see this all the time??? Somehow I skipped your first post: they wanted specific dates. In my references the academic year is stated. The university asked for starting and ending day/month/year. SO I asked for new references. Thats how I "renewed" it. |

Yes, VS, SHAME ON YOU! The newbie that you are. Now, go pad off somewhere and preen yourself! Bad kitty!
It's a waste of typing! |

Yes, I've only been here since it arrived in the 90's... not to mention the other boards that I have been on for years.
And I still haven't a clue what your "plz close" thing is about. Rather than referring to a supposed thing used on other unnamed boards, why not just explain yourself?
Are you expecting the moderators to close or delete this thread? If so, you have to send one of them a PM.
But then... the explanation of the renewal references doesn't make much sense either. I used the same batch of reference letters for years and no employer needed a date change. The sensible employers called the writers to ask questions. Are you perhaps referring to "letters of employment" rather than reference letters?

yea close as in remove this thread from here plz I picked it up when i was younger on a website where we traded items....maybe not suitable for discussion thread...
in your references did it specify the starting day/month/year to the ending day/month/year. mine goes like this: she has worked in our school for the following academic years.. 2006-2007.
I did ask for a new one and have submitted it, yet no response its just a pity when you reach the last step of your application then yr just left hanging. the people who interviewed me were blown away, and were SO NICE.. how am I going to find such nice people....boooooohoooooo
I did some shopping and packed my bags thinking this is it. i was going to buy a brand new laptop...now I cant even look at the current one I have...
people keep on pming me telling me htis process takes time.. the thing is that from the moment I have been contacted till the moment I submitted my references and passport everything went REALLY fast within a week. Then all of a sudden silence. when i called they gave me a the cold shoulder---and a cliche: we have so many applicants plz bear with us. they didnt sound that way at first.....its like someone slapped me. you just start sweating and cant stop thinking....I dont even know if i should go on. I waited faithfully for a week and then continued for another search.....just wondering why they ve changed their minds.
sigh sigh sigh sigh sigh sigh sigh this was a good opportunity... i liked their procedure...it felt safe. AND DEF. BETTER THAN THOSE DAMn RECRUITING AGENCIES. the uni. has its own recruiting department..... |

If you want to disclose the name of the agency or university that you've interviewed with, you may find that someone else has a similar situation and you're probably not alone in the process. |

As I suspected, this is an "employment letter" not a reference letter. All Gulf employers provide and require employment letters from your past employers. (something that doesn't exist in the US) It is merely proof that you worked at employer X and gives the basic details.
A reference letter is something written by a past supervisor or colleague or professor explaining your talents and abilities and why they should hire you.

(BTW... many employers read these pages, so you might want to make yourself a bit more... anonymous.) |

would principals signature count to make it an employment letter?
this includes both. the date starting and ending plus my qualifications..(the renewed letter)
iam asking for future job applications...i am sure this one is gone. |

Either English is a 2nd language or you have a Ph.D.
It's hard to figure out what you're writing about. |

An Employment letter gives dates and basic details. No reason why the principal of your school couldn't sign it. Most of mine came from my university department head.
At the same time as you get this, a letter of reference from this person would also be a good idea. Assuming that s/he will write one for you.

I know what an employment letter is - I've written a few myself for employees in my past. That still doesn't explain the secret code to determine what baa_baa desires. |
