Hello,
This has zero to do with teaching I admit.
If you have seen some of my posts here I am trying to get tickets to a pretty popular concert in Moscow in February. They will sell out long before then.
I'll be coming to Moscow/Russia in January.
I reserved my tickets only to find out that I have to pay for them by the end of today in person. I wanted to pay over the internet but for whatever reason that I have never dealt with in all my travels the agent will not accept Visa cards originating in the United States.
What the hell?
I actually called Russia just now and spoke with an agent in English. Who said I have very little option in the matter. Find someone in Moscow who can pick up the ticket for me or lose it. I cannot pay over the internet on their website because my card is American.
If anyone is able to help me that would be awesome. I would first pay via paypal and make sure they had the information so it isn't a huge deal. I could pick them up in person when I arrive in Moscow.
UGH, I am not even in Russia yet and have experienced enough redtape |

Hi Sohniye
Sorry to hear about this. I read it too late last night to be of any use. Also, I don't do credit cards. Even at home. And here there is even more reason for me not to bother. Always seems to be some technical glitch for my Russian friends with cards, but at least they have the language skills to negotiate the problems.
Are your tickets gone, or still available?

Hey Sasha,
No I just re-reserved them! And I'll keep doing that if I have until I get to Russia if I have to. How silly the office will not just extend the reservation or put the seats off to the side but they won't.
I actually practiced 'Does anyone speak English in your office?' in Russian for a good five minutes before I got the courage to call! That was hilarious.
I don't use credit cards either, just my Visa debit which is directly tied to bank account but the problem is that my bank account is the United States and apparently the agent will not proccess payments from cards originating here.
Weird.

Have you tried expat.ru? There might be someone on that site that could help. |
