| Sure. I don't plan on standing/staying on a hot spot.. IF I KNOW about where the hot spots are.. There could be a multitude that are unknown to the average person in living in the Tokyo area. Surely more "hotspots" will be discovered. Maybe under my/your apartment building or in the park where I/you jog. Hence, my concern.. Which doesn't seem to much of one to many other folks.. it seems. Believe me, I am not an alarmist, so at this point you can just call me a "concernist." |

Radioactive strontium found on Yokohama condo rooftop

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology said Wednesday that radioactive strontium 90 has been found in sediment on the roof of a condominium in Yokohama.
According to a TBS report, the level of radioactive strontium was 195 becquerels, which is 95 becquerels per kilogram above the government standard.
This is the first time that radioactive strontium with a level higher than the government benchmark has been found so far from the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, TBS reported.
Yokohama is about 250 kilometers from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Strontium 90 is a radioactive isotope of strontium, with a half-life of 28.8 years. Its presence in bones can cause bone cancer, cancer of nearby tissues and leukemia.
The science ministry said it has not yet determined where the strontium in the sediment came from. |

TEPCO finds sign of fresh nuclear fission at Fukushima reactor

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Wednesday there may be signs of fresh nuclear fission in the No. 2 reactor at its quake-damaged Fukushima Daiichi power plant and that it has begun injecting boric acid to control a possible nuclear reaction.
There has been no change in the temperature, pressure and radiation levels at the reactor, whose nuclear fuel is believed to have melted when the cooling system failed following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, the utility known as TEPCO said.
Gas samples taken Tuesday from inside the reactor's containment vessel may contain radioactive xenon, a gas typically generated by nuclear fission, the company said. |

Cesium from Fukushima plant fell all over Japan

There is also a growing awareness of the influence of the nuclear industry, particularly Tokyo Electric, which is one of the country's biggest advertisers, campaign donors and science graduate employers." |

| The City Hall guys came out and found some stuff on school grounds with 1.8 ms of radiation. They gathered em up and buried them on school grounds. Kinda silly, treating it like bacon fat. |
