I've got my FBI background check and am now in the process of having it sent to the state department for an apostille.
However there is a question saying 'country each document will go to' on the form I am looking for advice over. I don't know for sure which country I'd want to teach in. I am drawn on trying for either Taiwan or South Korea, but I'd also be open to a Latin American nation like Chile or Costa Rica. So I don't want to say 'south korea' if I end up applying to jobs in Taiwan or Chile.

What have other people done with that part? Would putting a country name limit you to applying for jobs in that country? Can you leave that part blank? |

I didn't have to do any kind of FBI background check for Mexico City. Ask some on the forums here who are in the countries you're thinking about. If the country doesn't require it, then why do it? Perhaps all of Latin America is like Mexico City and don't require that. Check to make sure. Does S.Korea ask for that? |

Doesn't matter. Well, kind of doesn't. If the country you're goign to has the Hague Agreement, you'll get an apostillisation. if it doesn't, you usually have to get it done at the embassy.
I'm pretty sure it's for statistical pruposes. I've had 3 done in the past two years and there's NO mention of the country on the doc they give me.
Just pick a country. |
