Hi everyone,
Unfortunately I had to leave my School for a number of reasons that I won't go into. Besides saying that nothing criminal happened it was just a case of the school not fulfilling my needs.
So I left at the end of the semester. However I didn't arrange my leaving with them as they wanted 6,000 RMB if I left. So I had to just go the airport and leave.
They have sent me an email saying they are going to contact the UK embassy.
I am now in the UK again, looking for a fresh start in a new part of the world. ( With better knowledge of what to check before I take a job over email.)
Can they do anything to me, through my own embassy?
Please bear in mind I did nothing criminal. I just left the school.

People leave schools early all the time, sometimes under good circumstances and sometimes not. If you come back to China you could find yourself on an employment blacklist (even that isn't too likely), or possibly trouble getting a visa (new passport should fix that) but if you're home now and never committed any criminal offence here, then you've got nothing to worry about.
Now at least one poster will chime in with how much of a scumbag you are but you can disregard that when you see it. |

Did you reply to their email or tell anybody you were OK ?
When somebody does a runner without telling the school nobody knows what the situation is. As far as they know you could be dead, in hospital, whatever and since they are responsible for you and presumably don't know you went home they probably felt they need to call the embassy. |

Embassies have NOTHING to do with contractual dealings. Write your former school back and inform them that you've informed the U.N about them.
Please read your own embassy's website...they will do NOTHING for you if you get a raw deal from your employer and they will do NOTHING to you regarding your dealings with your employer. Knowledge is power so empower yourself by being knowledgable. |

Yes, they do. And here are some of them from the lower part of the gene pool:

Fuggadaboutit.
It is unlikely that any FAO or school knows how to contact an embassy. If anyone at your school manages to contact your embassy, he'll get the same sort of answer that you'll get:
"Our embassy/consulate does not involve itself in matters between Chinese employers and employees..."
Your embassy/consulate knows all about Chinese employers.

| All bluster and hurt feelings - unless of course as a previous poster wrote they're worried something bad happened to you (not likely). Otherwise, relax. There's not going to be any long term legal ramifications for you as a result of quitting a job. You're not a slave. |
