Can anyone give me up to date information on Zina? Are they genuine? I'd like to contact anyone who is there now or has been there recently; [email protected]

You probably need to give more information... like where is it? The Middle East contains lots of countries...

Is it a Berlitz kind of language school? Language schools are mainly for entry level teachers with no experience or credentials and normally give only local hire contracts. It is usually long hours for very low pay and few, if any, benefits.

mmmmhhhh I just got an e-mail from them. Did a search on their address its in Turkey, but the e-mail says the school is in Dubai. No more info has been given The e-mail advised they would be sending details shortly. i. e. offer letter and the like. It seems a little weird as their e-mail is some kind of domain for sale, but its all in Arabic. I've replied to their e-mail lets see what transpires. i will say that they are advertising on eslemplyment, if you do a search in google the ad comes up.... Any advice old wise ones....

Hmm... I found the ad for Zina Language School, which includes the following description (for a monthly salary of approx. $4385USD):

In case you wish to come down here with your family, then we will be responsible for the air ticket, accommodation, feeding and education expenses of your dependants till end of your contract duration with us. Living and teaching in abroad can be very rewarding and wonderful, but also it is very challenging and you need to be interested in other cultures and teaching. You can learn many things, such as, culture, meeting new people and other teachers from all over the world. All our staff are experienced in the ESL area as they have taught and lived abroad for a few years and that makes it easier for the English teachers on what to expect. Our school is a fully interactive place where students of all ages can visit classrooms, street performances, and English facilities like the bank, post office, and restaurants. All the while speaking English of course! In a sense, we are helping them experience the Western way of life, without having them leave United Arab Emirates. The Students are so fully immersed in English they don't even realize that they are learning! You will be required to teach in a new and innovative conversational English language program. Students are Emirate citizens who are enrolled in English language course and attend classes four days a week. Teachers are paid for class time and preparation time in a Eight hours daily for 1 year contracts with a possibility to extend for a longer period. There are NO fees charged for any of our services!

Uh, you might want to skip this one; it's rather funky (not in a good way) and doesn't mention what teaching qualifications they require. Confused

This one screams SCAM at the top of its lungs. There is no language school in the world that pays $4300 a month. Even in Dubai, it would be closer to $2800... For $4800, they would be requiring an MA plus 5-10+ years of experience.

If the website says .tk, it is not Turkey. It is some island out in the South Pacific that scammers use for their crimes.

Stay far far away...

Am I the only one who looked at the name of the school and gasped?

FYI: "zina" = "premarital sex"

At least in Egypt it does.

Seriously.

This is from a discussion of scams on another site:

"See their advert on XXXxxxxxxxxxx :ESL/ENGLISH TEACHING POSITIONS IN DUBAI

Jawad Kasan
ZINA LANGUAGE SCHOOL
26 Harima Street Dubai,
United Arab Emirates.
Tel/Fax: +971-4-2821131
Email:[email protected]

They reel you in with a tempting offer, sending you a contract agreement you are asked to sign and return. Then you are required to get an entry visa from a fictitious source purporting to be Ministry of Interior, for which you are charged AED 1,657 or Equivalent $450. Actually if you work in Dubai, a mission visa costs AED 500.00 for 90 days and has to be applied for by your sponsor. So dont send money for an entry permit. Youll not get one and the scammers will have your $450.

The emails are almost identical to that already exposed below xxxxxxxxxxx. Check out their website using Google translator: it is not a language school at all, nor is there a school on Google Earth called Zina nor a street in Dubai with the same name as in the email address.

Same basic scam that has been running for the last few years... we've had a few posters who believed the nonsense before they checked things here and were out the money.

So, our OP's been vindicated. Cool

They attach a bunch of ficticious photos also.
I pasted what they emailed me. Totally bogus.

Find enclosed pictures of our school for your preview.
Please you are advised to contact UAE IMMIGRATION OFFICE for issuance of visas and entry permit because the arrangement is that you will arrive early in other to acclimatize with the working environment besides we have already make arrangement for our staffs and driver who will pick you to your accommodation upon your arrival at Dubai Int'l Airport.
Please all requirements should be submitted immediately as late application will be detrimental and ZINA LANGUAGE SCHOOL will not hesitate to revoke these opportunities as there are lots of Job applicants interested in this opportunity.
I look forward to welcoming you.

Best Regards,
Mr Jawad Kasan

Pictures can't be posted here for the obvious reasons. Many interesting, but not education related photos ended up on these pages before the option was blocked. Shocked

Unfortunately these criminals seem to find plenty of naive people to send them money as this has been going on for a long time now. Some of them have even used the websites of legitimate schools... and one even used ARAMCO's site.

Again the "way too high" salary offered and the .tk gives it away.

Notice too that the country domain is TK

Quote:
Email:[email protected]
Website:http://zinalanguageschool.tk

TK is the country domain name for
Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand. Here's what Wiki says about that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.tk

Quote:
In 2006, McAfee conducted a survey in which they claim out of the 95 percent most trafficked web sites, .tk domains were twice as likely as the global average to be used for "unwanted behaviors", including scams such as phishing and spam.[4] However, in 2008 McAfee reported that the threat of scams like phishing and spam was significantly reduced with .tk and that other top level domains such as .com and .net were much more used in such scams
