I'm graduating in May with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies Social Sciences Early Childhood and minor in English. I am also TEFOL Certified through Oxford Seminars. I plan on moving to Ankara in late June/beginning of July. What are some pointers I should keep in mind? and what are some top names, private colleges, private languages schools, etc? Although I am originally from Turkey I was raised in the States but my Turkish is pretty well too..

I know I was there last winter on vacation but it is not cold compared to western new york I grew up in very cold weather.

I spent a few days in Ankara in the middle of winter and I thought it was fine (if I compare a winter day to winter days I've experienced in the States) and I thought Adana was far colder. That wind coming off the sea can cut right through you. The snow in Ankara insulates so it wasn't bitterly cold to me.

You could try contacting some private primary/secondary schools in Ankara. I've heard good things about TED and I knew some folks who worked at BUPS many, many years ago. Good benefits, tough students. But there are hundreds of schools in the city. Private schools also don't always require you to be a licensed teacher in your home country, which can be nice. They don't always post vacancies online, so you can always contact the department/HR directly. If you're interested in language school work with adults... they always need people but the working conditions aren't always enticing. Universities might want you to have some experience working with adults if you don't already have some and/or an MA.

Ankara in the winter is very cold, snowy, and overcast. So if you can handle that from November to March/April, it's not bad. Knowing what to expect in the winter time can be helpful in itself.
