|
|
Admittedly this is my first time staying in China for the winter holidays, usually I go home. But I had been lead to believe that there would be plenty of camp work like there is in the summer. Apart from a couple of camps advertised in Beijing there seems to be nothing advertised for other big cities like Shanghai or Guangzhou.
So in others experience is this pretty much the same as last year? Or am I looking in the wrong places? If so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated. |

Winter camp is already up and running in a lot of schools. You're probably just looking too late. |

Yes, its probably too late. Winter camps are not as numerous in China as summer camps, because Chinese New Year is THE big holiday, akin to Christmas in the west. Most people spend a majority of this holiday with family. |

I'm unaware of any camps, but maybe that's just me.
I have some classes after Spring Festival at my side job. I suggest scouting a few training schools near you and paying them a visit either this week or very early next week. At least call them as they may have February classes they need covered.
I just remembered a winter camp ad I saw but the pay was awful for 35 hours a week; 1,600 or 2,000 per week? Maybe you're not missing a thing.
Try echinacities dot com in your city. Wish you well ... |

Yeah that camp in Jiangsu was pretty shocking.
30 hrs teaching + 10 office hrs a week for 4 weeks: 6500rmb
Works out at something like 40rmb an hour. I told them dont insult me.
Is there really people out there willing to work their holidays for this type of rubbish salary? I'm not that stuck for cash, it's more the boredom that is hurting me more than anything. I like to keep busy so two months off work really is a long time for me. |

I applied for a few different ones. Two in Beijing and one in Guangzhou. One of the ones in Beijing was obviously a scam, he emailed me asking a few questions then asked me to send him 1000RMB to 'confirm' that I would work there. The other two jobs, I got replies, but they basically said they didn't have that many spots and so were only considering people who were already in Beijing or Guangzhou.
Saw one ad for a camp which was 4 7 day sessions, each day was 6 hours, 150 per hour. Quite a lot of cash for 1 month of work if you do the math. No replies from that one tho. |
