JBrown, teaching jobs in the Mid East generally require a CELTA or equivalent TEFL cert + a couple of years' experience. For your situation, your best prospects for starting your TEFL career will be in Asia. Once you get some experience under your belt, then definitely apply for positions in the ME. But for now, you're on the right track by looking into getting a CELTA. Hopefully, others will pipe in with some useful info on where to get one at a bargain.
Was put on the "short list" for a job in the KSA today! Hopefully I will be able to report back that I proved many doubters wrong Twisted Evil LOL but seriously guys, thanks for all of your help!

Which is why I used the term "generally." I suggest doing a search under the Saudi forum for comments and info on the employer. And definitely research Saudi culture, including life for expats in the Kingdom; it's not the ideal choice for someone who's never lived or worked abroad. Good luck!

I know a bunch of Saudis from my university. Actually, most the people I hung out with for the past two years have been Saudi. It will be different for sure though. I want to make sure that you know I was just joking with you Very Happy Do any of you know anything about the National Institute of Technology?

I'm not sure where Egypt came in, but I believe that is a little too unstable right now. I am in no way a coward, but there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity.
