The Old Trout and I want to buy a couple of properties so that we can live off the rent when I'm too ancient to work. However, as I've explained to my family, here, I want to wait until the Chinese bubble bursts. This seems to confuse the ultra-patriotic Chinese, who think that economic growth is a one-way street, at least for them. To avoid hassles, any properties will be in her name. Has anybody seen the prices in Britain, recently? I gave (as in, VOLUNTARILY) my first house to my first wife, so now, everyone is saying what a moron I am...

I hear properties have been appreciating enormously in NZ. And, NZ is a democratic and stable country with a bright future.

"The next time I feel like getting married I'll just find a woman I don't like and give her a house"

Yeah, Moscow probably is overvalued. But I'm not thinking about in Moscow proper. I'm looking at neighboring regions, and I think they'll still be growing a lot. The economy still seems to be very centralized here. But as more people are getting established they are moving out and the outlying areas seem to be developing. Prices are very location dependent. I'm trying to get something on the super cheap. Anything overvalued is out of my range.

Even in the states, property seems to be a generally good long term investment, from what I hear.

I'm thinking in terms of a residence permit. I have a wife and kid. Though I doubt if the residence permit will have fewer hoops than the visa. Rolling Eyes
