Hi, I have a degree, a TESOL certificate, and have taught English in Japan and Taiwan. I am not a qualified teacher.
What are my prospects of obtaining a teaching job in Singapore?
Thanks for your help. |

Hi Cathy! I'm in a similar position to you, though I do have a DipEd now (no practical experience beyond teaching rounds though). Have also worked in a University here in Melbourne teaching EAP casually for almost 3 years. So I'm just as eager to hear any advice that people have as I'm planning to relocate to Singapore next year.
I'm not trying to hijack, more like jumping on the bandwagon you started |

Looks like there's a few of us in the same situation
I have a Bachelors Degree (Commerce) and Certificate in TEFL as well as 5+ years childcare experience and have taught kindergarten in Hong Kong and Japan.
Singapore will hopefully be next on my list! But IS there any work out there for teacher without teaching qualifications? How do we stay away from dodgy language schools??
Hoping someone will respond .... |

It seems like you're only qualified to work in 'dodgy language schools'. With more teaching experience, then you could be in the running for some of the better language school jobs - competition is tough however. Primary/Secondary schools only hire experienced teachers with teaching qualifications. |
