well, they did criticize him, rather than the content of the message.

just sayin...

Standard practice or so it seems. Sad that a balanced approach is always attacked.

Amigo, you have some special view on things. I see the people with the true to say about how things are in Mexico and giving good advice and you always negative. All things Mexico is bad, all people Mexican is bad. This is not balanced.

You attack to everyone that give their opinion from many points of view good and bad because they do not feel as bad as you? You are taking a good webpage for good advice to everyone and making it a personal fight against a whole country.

You feel bad, I know. You say you can't make money, you can't retire, you can't find Mexican woman that likes you, ok, that's bad, we understand. You can see that most other people don't have same problems so why make it personal against them like they are the problems you have too?

I was attacked recently, too, for sharing information via a linked article. I chose to consider the source and ignore it. As pointed out, it's noticeable what's happening here lately, but hopefully this stuff will 'take leave' and allow the forum to get back to being the balanced source of information it has been over the past couple of years. We are all in this together, and need to cut the crap. IMHO.

I'm not always negative rodrigo, just trying to show some things that aren't so positive since most say ONLY good things and try to HIDE the bad.
An example of this was the post Phil K started. The first page he listed the problems with language schools, colegios, universities and private classes. That page was removed!!! Why??!!! It wasn't allowed to stay on daves even though he was only trying to show some of the pitfalls in teaching here.
Not sure why the moderators took that page off. Guess the truth isn't allowed. You are attacking me and saying things about me that aren't true. I DO make enough money to pay my bills. And not able to get a Mexican woman??????
I'm not sure where you're getting that information from. I have never even mentioned anything about women here. Rolling Eyes
I would appreciate it if you would stop saying things about me on this forum that isn't true.

I never said I couldn't make money here.

I can't retire?? I'm only 42 and was trying to get opinions about teaching long term in Mexico and retirement.

I can't find Mexican women that like me????? Can't recall ever discussing Mexican women on this forum. I can't figure out where you got that information from. Appreciate it if you would stop attacking me. But then again you're showing people that what I've been saying is true...posters with views of Mexico that most here don't agree with get attacked.

Very good information Samantha. In the future I will try to do the same. Consider the source and ignore it. Very Happy

Getting the thread back on track..

Is the EFL profession still a good idea?

Definitely YES, but I hasten to mention that people looking to come to Mexico and make money probably shouldn't come.

People looking to make a difference, to develop their teaching skills and people looking to experience one of the most varied countries in the world then a most definite YES.. it is still a good idea!

In the future on any thread on the Mexico forum (or any forum on this board for that matter) if you feel you are being attacked, please report the matter to the Mod Team as soon as possible.

For the record, the Mexico forum will not become the only forum on this board where opposing opinions cannot be expressed because some people don't like to read them.

If you happen to disagree with this policy to the extreme, you may want to start spending your time elsewhere before the decision is made for you.

You may assume the Mod Team will be giving the Mexico forum special attention going forward.

This thread is now locked so that we can begin again with a clean slate. If someone would like to start Part 2 of it, please do so.
