Anyone know anything about Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic? Don't see any info on them here. (if my search powers have gone wrong, please let me know) Money seems better than usual - 22,500 a month.

Is this the same school, in Baish I think, that a kiwi organization was recruiting for up to about 6 months ago? Must be, as Baish is in the middle of nowhere really.

If it is, then the second interviewer mentioned by Sirens is probably the same problem personality representing Saudi Electric who I had the misfortune to actually meet in the flesh. You'll deserve a hefty salary to manage that one.

Yep, in Baish. The contact mentioned seems to be an expat, but the interview will be with a 'representative.' (The ad is on tefl.com)

Now I'm curious to hear what the stupid questions are Smile

Yes, he's an expat, a representative and very peculiar. He'll sorta sneak around you, formulating a proper alogorithm just for you. He's a clever one, he is. 'Laughing'

I'd be interested in finding out current info on this outfit as well.

The latest I heard is that Baish is in the middle of nowehere with a 70-kms hike to work from the compound every day.

There's apparently zilch to do in the evenings and on the weekends although 22.5k SARs/month is pretty decent.

Peculiar, yes. Algorithm just for you? No. He was obviously reading from a list and had a very narrow idea of what the "correct" answer would be. Stiffest interviewer I ever had.

Working for SESP is worth considering. Government funded, they have a mandate to open at least 7 centers to train young Saudis for employment within the company. As far as I know, they have presently centers in Jazan, Riyad, Jeddah, and Damman. I don't know about Baish. They seem to contract out operations in some places but not in others. There was a Kiwi company that managed Jazan, but they have since been removed and now it's possibly managed by SE. A couple of Americans who work directly for SE oversee the quality of education in all centers. The Dammam location which opened last November is managed by Amideast.

It's possible some of the interview problems mentioned in the thread are due to inexperienced or poorly qualified representatives. These centers are opening so fast that they haven't hired quality staff yet, so it could be a good opportunity. They are sure to attract attention with their advertised pay scale.

First interviewer is a rookie, but much more pleasant and competent than the smug, condescending veteran who does the second.
