I just cast my vote. No one here in Scotland is very excited about choosing new MEPs. Media is obsessed with the vile ex-stockbroker Farrage, whose strength seems to be in England.

Looney right candidates abound. Hardly anyone on the Left. For aging hippies, and Bolshies like me, we have to take our pick - SNP or Greens.

I think you mean UKIP, right? I'm all in favour of getting rid of people WHO don't really fit in the county and have no intention of trying, all those foreign parasites!

Not just UKIP but Heinz57 Varieties of fascist and racist parties, viz Britain First, BNP NO2EU. (The latter being actually a Stalinist Party run by the "eccentric" English settler John Foster, who refuses to accept the outcome of the XXth Congress of the CPSU)

It seems UKIP is causing a 'political earthquake' in UK, and gaining ground in Scotland (+10.4%)?
After this result, my reading is that Scotland will not get independence in September. Watch this space!
Enjoy, scotty! Laughing

UKIP narrowly won its first ever seat in Scotland, dashing Alex Salmond's hopes of securing a record three seats in the European parliament!

As C.P. Scott, one-time editor of the Grauniad famously said, "Opinion is free but facts are sacred."

The results in Scotland according to the BBC:

SNP: 386,193, Labour: 346,377, Conservatives: 230,569, UKIP: 139,687, Greens: 107,805, Lib Dems: 95,076, Britain First: 13,551, BNP - 10,150, No2EU - 6,388.

Neither a defeat nor a disaster for the SNP.

Euro elections: Ukip officially wins first Scottish politician

"Ukip's main candidate, David Coburn, now an MEP, arrived at the central declaration point in Edinburgh last night and, in typically combative fashion, declared Alex Salmond to be the Robert Mugabe of Scottish politics, based on recently published land reform laws."

"We all have the same problems that need to be resolved and, quite frankly, Mr Salmond seems to think that Scotland is so different from everywhere else - well, it's not."
Mr Coburn said he will fight hard against the campaign for Scottish independence.

I see the newly elected UKIP MEP for Scotland used to run a Language School in London. It went bust, and so he took to Right-wing Politics as a career change.
