Hello,
I am an American looking to relocate to Russia for business and family.

Qualifications: 5 years of teaching experience, Masters in Teaching, American Teaching License, CELTA, and an intermediate level of Russian.

I would like to know about international schools or elite schools in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Russia, or Soviet block in general..

Is there a decent demand for certified teachers?
How is the salary + benefits? (I see full benefits, house, and 4k USD/month in Kazakhstan which is appealing)
How are the working conditions & students? (White monkey or busting your butt?)

Any advise, insight, or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

You could check the 9000 threads already on this forum which cover your questions.

1. There is a pretty good demand for teachers right now.
2. 160,000rub seems unlikely. Even in an international school I don't think you'd get that much. A friend's ex-boyfriend was working at one of the international schools and if I remember correctly he was earning about 120,000rub per month.

3. I haven't taught any white monkeys, but in general the students are fine. The same as you'll get in most other countries. Some are determined, some lazy, some big, some small, etc.

In short, go to Kazakhstan if you want $4k. But just to clarify (since you want to relocate to Russia) Kazakhstan isn't in Russia.
You appear to be looking for jobs of which there are very few in number. Your best bet is to start emailing the international schools and see if they have any positions going and send them your resume.

What happened to Saudi Arabia? Back in May you were posting on the Saudi forums that you were trying to get work there.

You achieved a Masters diploma over the summer? In May you had;

So during those 3 months in Saudi you managed to compress an extra two years of teaching experience and also achieved your Masters.

Well done. Your mastery of time, space and education are indeed impressive. Sadly, your ability to use the search function on this forum is less than skillful.
I've also noticed that you've already posted a thread asking this exact question and you received perfectly good responses.

Of course, I don't care about your life in the slightest. I just found your odd little history on this forum amusing.

Really? Advice/advise that creds are usually checked on the continent, and the niche jobs you seek are fairly rare.

Might be easier in Asia.

I can offer advice but it'll cost you. You mention you have a Russian wife in previous posts, should she not be able to help out?

Will you need a visa to work in Russia or have you established residency with your spouse?

You can do private teaching and make a boatload or be stuck with the all-too-familiar and get bled from work while they siphon off you.

There's tons of info online. Google is your best friend.

Although if you are American why wouldn't you want to return to the land of the free and home of the brave.

The Russian sanctions these days have crushed the ruble. Many teachers are complaining once they convert to their native dollar.

Or see if you can find a rich oligarch who will cater to your every whim and throw cash at you endlessly. They do exist but sadly only if you are a former Miss Universe with a model 10 physique and fertile body.

Hello,

We are now teaching in Saudi Arabia and would like to head back to China - Shenzhen ideally - but searching for excellent conditions.

taylor family..so do you want to go to Russia or China or stay in Saudi Arabia or back to Hong Kong? I read your previous posts and can't make sense of what exactly it is you want.

Only 4 months ago you were inquiring about Saudi Arabia and now you want to leave so soon?

Must be hard on the family relocating to a new country every so often.

Clearly you've upset Dave in some way.

Anyway, not that I really care about this guy's life, but I do find his story rather inconsistent. He also appears to be something of a braggart.
He seems more interested in posting topics about how much he earns and how educated he is than actually obtaining useful information.

All the same, I wish him all the best in his new life in Russia/Kazakhstan/China/Saudi/insert country here...

Nooo!! I have upset the almighty Dave!! Seriously though these quirks are ticking me off. I can't quote properly!!

Yeah this taylorfamily guy doesn't seem to have a clue what he wants to do.

Reading his previous posts he was in Hong Kong, then left for Saudi Arabia in August and now 2 months later wants to relocate to both China and Russia at the same time.

Check his last 2-3 posts and you'll see. Make up your mind dude!

My suggestion is to head back to the good ol' USA and settle down. Unless his only options are Starbucks or Walmart.

If he's as smart and well-traveled as he says, having worked in several countries as an ESL teacher, has a Russian wife, why is he asking us where the jobs in Russia are?

Surely there must have been numerous unsolicited offers for him already.

But you're here now!!!

How can we help our learners distinguish between go and come if we do not demonstrate a clear rule ourselves?!
