If so, what are your objectives? What do you hope to take back to your school/classroom after it's all over?
If not, why not? |

It's bad timing - the last week of our spring semester. Otherwise, I'd be there for sure. Have attended past conferences. |

Yep, will be going. A colleague and I will be presenting, my first time doing so as it happens, so my primary objective is to get through that without making a complete ass of myself. Otherwise, I'm hoping to see and hear some things that I can use with my new crop of students, a group who is quite a bit lower than I've taught in a long time. |

No.
Bad timing, too far and too expensive to get plane tickets.
Attending Asia TEFL or any of the PAC conferences on the other hand is a very real possibility |

I also listed "no" for many of the reasons above.
It's right at the beginning of my semester, I've a teacher training trip to Mongolia for a week at the end of March, and I prefer to attend the "local" conferences here in Asia instead (ThaiTESOL, LaoTESOL, as well as more local conferences in China in 2015).
I have never been to a TESOL International conference, but I could see myself attending at least one of these in the next four years:
Baltimore, MD in 2016
Seattle, WA in 2017
Chicago, IL in 2018
Atlanta, GA in 2019
Warm regards,
fat_chris

DrTongue,
Best of luck with that. That's a pretty big deal to be presenting at TESOL. Have fun with it and get some good networking in!

Why are there no TESOL International affiliates in China? |

There are! I attended one in Guangzhou in November 2013. It was a very nice affair.

pick one or 10.

Also the PAC : The Pan-Asian Consortium of Language Teaching Societies ... IATEFL and TESOL International support the development of PAC.

I have presented at 2 of the Asian TEFL/TESOL conferences this year and have been asked to present at the PELLTA ( http://www.pellta.org ) conference in May.

I think NS was referring to official affiliates of TESOL International Association. I don't see any affiliates in China on this list (though Hong Kong and Taiwan are listed). |

Try looking for affiliates of Asia-TEFL, the PAC-LTS or IATEFL rather than just focusing on TESOL International.
TESOL International isn't the only game in town and there is nothing (other than American ethnocentrism) to make them any more valid than any of the other umbrella organizations.

"American ethnocentrism?" Seriously? As an American, I'm not that familiar with IATEFL.
Anyway, I was just curious; I don't teach in China nor plan to. I'd asked on the China forum some time ago, and just got dead air. But thanks on behalf of those who were unaware of TESOL associations in China. |

Affiliate or whatever, I was chiefly referring to conferences and I was reporting on a Symposium sponsored by TESOL International that was held in Guangzhou, China in November 2013. It was a nice affair and I even got a year of TESOL membership out of it!

No sweat. The more, the merrier. As I stated, I was just asking a simple question---as benign as asking about the weather. I didn't expect to strike anyone's nerves. I have no preference for one association over another, and in fact, I belong to several... and more. |

I believe there are no TESOL International affiliates based in China due to the political landscape. I do not know this for certain, but I presume the government wouldn't allow an "outside" organization to come in, whether it be in the form of an affiliate or not.
Nonetheless, TESOL International does come in from time to time and put on one of the aforementioned Symposium.
Generally speaking, conferences on the Mainland are put on directly by universities and consortium of universities--these can be exciting affairs to attend to get a feel of the pulse of TESOL in China. I have attended two and have had the opportunity to see what some of the current research by some of the Chinese "experts" entails.
Warm regards,
