I'm going to England for a fortnight's holiday to touch base with friends and family. I have a long list of things to do, see and BUY while I'm there, not least from my friends and colleagues here. What about you? What would you have me bring back for you?

If I were going to England, my first priority would be to get a large pot of Marmite... I'm down to the last scrapings of mine! Sad

Cheese and Onion crisps, chocolate digestives, milk delivered to your domicile, the Sunday Papers.

English Job Centres (for those looking for casual work).....Job Centres are unique in the world....and very handy. Just go in, pick a job you fancy on the wall postings, set up an interview...and voila...a good chance of landing a post.... England has a very low unemployment rate of approx. 4% (although some of the jobs offered are low paid).

The British club scene (the most developed in the world). Name your interest, and you will find a club with similar mavericks to share and participate in your hobby.

But..but dmb! If you eat bacon you'll get cancer! And, um, you'll stop feeling jealousy! And you'll go to hell!

Better to stick to kokorec and ciger kofte, just to be on the safe side. Oh, and smoke a few packs of iki-bin-bir a day for good measure. Dont forget to close all windows and doors even though its 33 degrees in the shade cos you'll catch your death from the draft.

Hmmm bacon. Iyi haram.

Did you know that if you fry up pastirma it kinda passes for bacon, in a weird garlicky peppery kinda way?

Pork rinds. Not the puffy processed kind but the oily ones from the mexican butcher with hunks of crispy fat still on them, preferably the spicy kind.

Best Foods (Hellman's) mayonnaise. They have it here but it's just not right. BBQ spare ribs. Proper steaks not cooked to leather. I like the blood to feed my blood, thank you. Think I'm qualified to make such decisions, irrational though they may be.

Jabanero sauce. Roommates nicked all of mine and wasted it in their inedible cooking, along with my sweet n spicy Beaver mustard. And my good brown mustard with the seedy things in it.

Real beer, micro-brewed, in a rainbow of flavours. Proper wine that's not vintage 3 months ago.

Cajun bacon cheeseburger. Dribble

just me, you are making me drool all over my mouse pad. How unfortunate. Esp the habanero sauce. Can I add several containers of tomatilla salsa (mexican brand, in little tins, forgot name), chipotle pepper sauce, coriander chutney, real chunks of parmesan cheese from the Italian deli, Montreal smoked beef, wild BC salmon, and a large parcel of those lethal chocolate brownies from Cascadia bakery in Victoria, BC. Ooof.

Well, its back to my coffeemate 'n Nescaf and su boreği for now....

Justme, you mentioned micro-brewed beer. Have you been to Taps in Nisantasi? It does a really good beer and the food isn't too bad either.

Oooo oooo ooo dmb! Where exactly is this? Can I have the address? I have a feeling after a month or two back in Efes-land I will kill for variety (as am currently contemplating).

Am off on Tuesday, y'all. Hope no one blows up the airport.

Aw dang it, dmb-- I cant, as the whole bloody bush thing has made it so that I'm flying out of here tuesday evenig then crashing at the airport til my 5am flight. If you want you can come visit me--- I'll likely be chillingout at the bar in Int'l arrivals (better food and nicer chairs than the departures on). Very Happy

Shall we make a beer date for Sept. then? I'll be back on the 4th. Hopefully Bush wont be back to disrupt travel patterns then too.
