Hello all,
I've been watching this forum for the last few weeks and waiting to be able to post for the last few days. Finally!! But it looks like all the interesting discussions are long gone. Is it all over? Anyone left with anything to say about Chinglish, Chinese teachers, or anything else of interest? I hope this doesn't revert back to "What's a good salary?" and "Where's the best place in China to teach?" ad nauseum. Anybody still out there who wants to play (within Dave's guidelines, of course )? C'mon, it'll be fun!

I think YOU owe US a good time. I, for one, would love to know what it is like to be a foreign female teacher in China, if that is what you are. If you are not one, regale us with a well thought through lie about being one.

More often than not, a good lie is better than the truth anyway.

You know why men lie to women don�t you. The women aren�t going to believe them anyway.

I will not even dignify that shameless baiting with a pummeling!

And while I wish I could "regale" you with "war stories", I must be honest and say that other than being unofficially anointed the "Young Learners" goddess, life for this foreign woman is very easy. I feel twice as safe in China than in the US, and I have never been hasseled.

My poor hubby (I know, I know, but Ms.Molly just doesn't have quite the same ring, does it?) has much more trouble than I do. Apparently, foreign women don't have the same, uh, appeal as foreign men do. I could be way off, though. Ladies in China? Can we hear from you?

Hi all

I actually wanted to comment on the fact that so many foreign men have married Chinese women, I was wondering whether there are any foreign women who have married Chinese men. I have not had any luck on that front other than the usual stare, i.e. 'where do u come from'?. I am in a small town and the only foreigner at that. Although I am as you describe it the near to perfect picture of a foreigner, tall with green eyes and brown hair. At first, I could not figure out why I had to send a picture of myself when I applied for this position but now of course I understand.

I suppose it would be stupid to ask, why do men find it so easy to marry Chinese women when I find Chinese men totally NOT MY TYPE, definitely out of the question .......?????

I also liked the advice given to the guy who was put in a tight corner about marriage. "Think with your top head". That would make a real difference ...????!!! MissMolly, what do you think..?????


Onto another issue. Klasies are you South African ....... moer .....!!!!????

I think if a Chinese guy loves an American woman it is not because he is looking for a sugar mama and a green card. In my limited experience these men don't like Chinese women very much and are looking for a different kind of woman. Many Chinese women these days (and I know a lot of them) are very materialistic and selfish in love. American women don't have the same issues and hang-ups and may be less needy and less manipulative and easier to trust. Yes, I know the fact that we are more independent than Chinese women is something that Chinese men cannot deal with. I actually had a Muslim Indian bf in SA and we had major problems because I was not the "Yes & Amen" type. We are not looking for someone to provide for us but it is more a case of wanting a companion, a partner and not a slavedriver or boss. People are always referring to Chinese men and their habits, like spitting, etc. but the young girls at my school also do it, even in class.

Kathleen, if I may ask, I guess your bf is not your typical Chinese male???? And I would agree with him, I also find many of the women phony. They are all dolled up all the time, what for, only they will know. I would love to know what they think of me. I look more like one of the students most of the time, especially when I am not teaching. Some of the students are more dolled up than me.
