I think he scored 56 goals for the Edmonton Oilers this year. Oops sorry that was last year scot47, hockey has been "locked out"for a year while some have been locked in.

Rice Paddy,
You seem to be a busy boy. It looks like you either want to be Greek styled, Arab styled, or both. Maybe you should be reported?

I noticed that the man (presumably) posted on every single board with mostly weird one or two word comments. Mostly they were irrelevent. When I read some of the stupid comments that he put around the Middle East section, I clicked on his name. He posted like 4 pages of messages in about 15 minutes around the board!! This is a person who needs to get a life!! Shocked

Not that I understand the logistics of these boards, but isn't it about bandspace or something? Wouldn't those in power want to avoid filling things up with a few hundred messages even more bizarre and useless than our usual stuff? I suppose that at least he wasn't doing it in a way just to start fights or whatever like the garden variety troll.

It doesn't take a "rocket scientist" to figure out that there's bugger and all to do out there in the Magic Kingdom other than spend your time glued to this message board.

Dave provides a valuable service letting those who are walking into the heart of darkness know that there are others suffering the same plight out there.

I'm sure he's kept many from slipping over the edge and being pickled in sidiq.

Then again who am I to talk, I'm never off the bloody page and I'm nowhere near the K.S.A.

Perhaps "Ghutra Man"'s name is a pun on the Elvis song "Guitar Man" discuss:

Being pickled in sid isn't that bad...or maybe it is....who can tell? Who am I to say? I've already slipped over the edge. Heart of darkness? It's not all that bad.

I like the "Guitar Man" angle. Elvis in a ghutra...that doesn't bring up the greatest image.

But this rice paddy fellow is in Japan according to his profile. I always thought that most jobs there provided a bit more entertainment than the Magic Kingdom.

My inquiry was directed at "Ghutra Man" and not "Rice Paddy Daddy".

"Ghutra Man" had the temerity to criticise employers in the K of SA who are better than average. He seems to have been "disappeared" now.

Scot... stop interrupting me while I am hijacking your thread... or rather continuing someone else's hijacking... Cool

It looks to me like no one has unmasked the ghutra man yet and if he is still lurking, he ain't telling.

So sorry... I will go away again...

Well fellas,

I've kept you all on tenterhooks for a while on purpose and it looks like I've succeeded in ruffling some feathers. Well, I'm still here in the magic carpet kingdom enjoying fresh dates and lashings of coffee.

What as I said in an earlier post was what I wished someone had told me before I came here. The KFUPM - DCC job deal is pretty shoddy when compared to other jobs currently available. Their salaries are the lowest in KSA presently. Please prove me wrong. The benefits offered amount to nothing for example like 1500riyals rent and 600Riyals per month car allowance which they build into your salary.

Also, who wants to teach at a place where the books they use are harder for the teachers to understand than for those poor students, the majority of which will fail anyway because they are the dregs of the student world. On the same subject, the students are too much of a handfull to have any real control over. Finally, the head of the language faculty is incompetent, not to mention the people below him. These guys wouldn't even be able to run a piss up in a brewery (every pun intended).

No, if you want real money in KSA try one of the other outfits that pay more. I mean, we are only here for the money, right? So Scot47, do us all a favor and wake up and smell the coffee 'cos it ain't the same type I'm a sniffin.

Anyway, hope all you types in here are filling up your booties because the roof isn't going to stay strong for ever.

The students at KFUPM are pretty good.

In general KFUPM gets the best students, Jubail and Yanbu Industrial colleges are second choice, the community colleges like DCC come next, and then the technical colleges that teach in Arabic take what's left. However because of demographic boom all told you are still dealing with the top 50% of the age group.

The KFUPM books are too difficult for DCC students but I thought they had been changed - we're phasing them out at Jubail next semester, and I thought KFUPM was doing the same.

And I thought that an EL 000 had been introduced to predate EL 001 and EL 002.

The salaries aren't the lowest in the Kingdom (I can give you a long list of those that pay less) but they are lower than the RC or the IPA and considerably lower than the military contracts or Aramco contracting. At KFUPM pleasant students and long hoidays go a long way to make up for it. The mismatch between the students and the material at Dammam, Hail and Hafr-al-Baten probably makes teaching less pleasant, and in the case of Dammam they are probably still suffering from teethng problems.

Perhaps you and Scot 47 just have different tastes in coffee.

My coffee is definitely not the same as this ghutra-ed -"khawaja". Give me "alla turca" any day. He can stick to his vile Nescafe,
