I jest not - the ARAB NEWS yesterday ran a large display ad for a Nanny. One of the many requirements was that she must be a university graduate.

For the child's sake, here's hoping that Condoleezza doesn't apply.

You will still get the innocents asking whether they need to have a degree to teach in KSA.

Actually, that ad doesn't surprise me.

I know of at least one high-class lady who demanded that her maid have a college degree. I guess it's a status thing, and as maids are so cheap, and "status" so vitally important, I guess it makes sense (?!?)in the Saudi context.

Louise was a British nanny working in the USA who was accused of beating out a child's brains agaisnt something in the bathroom. It was about 10 years ago so my memory is a bit vague, but the case went on for months and I THINK she was convicted of manslaughter but not murder. She is now back in the UK (I assume she has pursued career options other than in childcare!).

Does anyone out there have more vivid memories of the case?

Who the hell is Daisy Wright? Never heard of her.

scot47 and Bebsi..... I am a bit disappointed!

Daisy Wright is the blond nanny who used to work for Sienna Miller (the fiancee of famous actor Jude Miller).

Jude allegedly seduced the hot nanny and had sex with her !!

Say no more..... Wink

Not only have I never heard of Daisy Wright... I have never heard of Sienna Miller or Jude Miller... so I guess he isn't that 'famous'

Good manners and good writing style dictate that when we make a reference to someone, our readers should have some idea of who that person is.

I for one do not follow news from the former colonies on the other side of the Atlantic. Personally, I think King George was misguided in allowing them to go their own way.

Well, they say he was off his rocker.
Re suggestions for suitable candidates for the nanny job, my nomination is Lucille MClauchlan, the nurse convicted of being an accessory to the murder of Australian nurse Yvonne Gilford in 1997. Such a caring soul!

Louise Woodward was accused in 1997 of causing the child's death by shaking it. She was found guilty of second degree homicide but the judge overturned the jury's decision, as he had the right to do under Massachussetts law, and returned a verdict of involuntary manslaughter sentencing her to time served.

The case was very big, both in the US and UK.

And it spawned a famous episode of "Law and Order".
