Hi Forum
Recently a thread was started relating to "sex and the city" a question was asked about the characters who played the main parts if they were typical of their class/generation and if they gave a favourable impression of fine upstanding American womanhood ,I don't think that was fully answered or developed so with a new slant in mind and just for fun you understand ,no use of the dreaded "S" word here Linda so put your knife away .
We have all seen and heard them on tv etc those irratting females who do not give good press to their sex and are just too fluffy for their own good yet they are for some strange reason adored even loved (usually by men)that horrible female Ally Mcbeal for example doesn't she get on your nerves especially if you have to suffer a repeat of the 1st series she will remain unmarried if theres any justice ,and what about Mariah Carey who gave that bint the impression she could sing ,most of the time she sounds like she having a tooth pulled without the necessary shot ,shot, did I say snot Linda not that "S" word you know the other one . Any way I digress at the risk of incurring a little laughter into this sad forum can we try and see how many of those girly types we would like to push into a swimming pool with their best frock on just coz it would make us feel good . I have at least 20 but Linda sorry you not onit anymore coz you don't know how to have fun . |

Ricky boy,
I like the bleach bumb blond on Friends. (Do not recall her name)
I would like to punish her by sitting down and having an intellectual conversation with her. |

Shall we just have a 'not remotely about teaching' forum and be done with it then!?!
While I appreciate America for churning out such 'quality' TV, it is a culture based largely on exaggerated stereotypes which women and men don't have to live up to... it's only TV, not real life.
And while you may dislike Mariah Carey's 'media created' persona, she is, from a musical point of view technically a great singer... as is Celine Dion. I don't like their music either but look at the reality under the media/your own judgements once in a while... and always concede, as I'm about to now, that I could be full of s***.

What about Britney Spears, the Spice Girls, and the rest of the "*beep* pop" genre? I'd dearly like to take them all, shave their heads bald, tie them up and run them over with a tank. This whole thing with Ally Mcbeal and the "woman exploitation" theme doesn't wash with me. You have Britney Spears, the "barely legal ho.. bop my way to the top" mentality, the " Girl Power .. .take me shopping" Spice Girls theme, and then the "I'm too superior therefore men exploit me" Ally Mcbeal mentality.
Rich, the ones who I would really like to use "extreme prejudice" against are the "tourist holiday lovers" .. you know.. the ditsy/old/fat/ugly tourist woman (with open heart, legs, wallet and citizenship other than Turkish) visit the resorts with the express intent to "fall in love". They meet some ex goat herder turned waiter....who makes an industry out of this type of thing. Later, they get their hearts broken/bank accounts cleaned out/a bad venereal disease and fall into the same anti-male mentality a certain female member of this board has.

Some people are just too stupid to be slapped. As we used to say in the military, "You can't rape the willing".

I'm not sure, this thread is akin to the 'hating people from Big Brother who you've never known or met' mentality... and besides, I can't think of any women that irritate me that much so for now, I'm not buying.

Incidently, when she opened the Scottish Parilament she was named "Queen of Scots" according to Scottish tradition.
Put that in your quiz and smoke it.

I don't mind the Queen so much. My big problem is that after she kicks the bucket, Charles is going to be on my money (or at least on Canadian coins). I hope they pass legislation to prevent this or something....
I also despise Ally MacBeal. Do women really want to aspire to be like that? How about trying to be happy with who you are even if you are single? How about making TV shows worth watching? Anyone?
The sad, sad irony is that where I live now, pop culture icons have followed. The only thing most of my students know about music from the West cosists of Maraiah Carey, Briteny Spears, and The Backstreet Boys. |

Why would a normal man "hate" and want to "harm" so many women? |

What about Geraldo? This guy is just begging to have his nose broken on live TV again. He's the "journalist" who opened Al Capone's vault and found nothing but an empty beer bottle. He had the bright idea of hosting the KKK and Black Panthers together on his show. As or recent, he was "embedded" (or was it inbred?) reporter who decided to give away operational plans on live tv during Gulf War II. A friend of mine was telling me how they were giving him "dirty handshakes" during his stint with the troops. It must be hell to go to war and then return to your airconditioned hotel room for the evening.
Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones are winners of the "Turn the channel this sucks" award. I guess they patrol the trailer parks and projects all day looking for inbreds and miscreants to put on tv to boost their egos. It's the sad part of "reality tv". I still think they hire actors to be "guests". My favorite episode was when Jerry hosted adults who like to wear diapers.
The entire cast of the "Real World" series on MTV. How the hell can it be the "Real World" when they find jobs for the people, pay for their nightlife etc etc? If I had to share an apartment with some of those muppets, I'd be in prison now for murder.
The NBA because of their strikes. I don't understand how 16 million dollars a season isn't enough for what they do.
The list goes on and on. |

I hate most American TV, not least of all because I have to pay for it to get BBC Prime or the cricket.
I once saw Geraldo Rivera just before the beginning of the war reporting from Afghanistan on their reaction to the war. "Well, no, they're not happy, but they're so pleased about the coming reconstruction and the importance of the provincial councils that it doesn't matter". Yea -- pull the other one.
I suppose he's what Tony Blair would have been if he entered journalism instead of politics. |
