Better stock up - seems as if the hotels won't be serving anything stronger than 7-up during ramadan.... |

Yes, and I hear the hookers refrain from hooking in the Holy Month. |

Being of a Scottish Presbyterian background I use neither ardent spirits nor the harlots of Bahrain.
Well not any more. Well not very much. And certainly NOT in Ramadan ! |

The question is would a Scot ever dig into their pockets in the first place? |

When you say their I assume you mean somebody English. So of course a Scot would always delve into a Englishman's pocket if a drink was on offer. I'll have a Guiness. |

Ah... so it requires an analysis learned in your Pragmatics and/or Sociolinguistics courses in order to get beyond surface structure to the real meaning...

Sorry looks like you've missed out with Ramadan starting today and all that - oh well only a month to go. I'll be thinking of you when I'm sitting on a beach being force fed exotic alocholic beverages. |

Get a job with BAE and then you can stay at a decent hotel. |

Weekend on Bahrain. You can choose between:
Staying in luxury hotels and having to spend the week at BAE babysitting airforce cadets
or
Staying in budget hotels and spending the week at a lower paid but probably more rewarding job, ie. have a life.
Get a life. You're not going to live forever. |

Mistral thanks for pointing out that the $$$$'s at the end of the month are NOT the only factor. Has anyone EVER met ANYONE who had ANYTHING positive to say about BAE ?
Apart from the obscene salaries that is ! |

Sounds like advice from someone who is into extreme savings... even when I was college age, the hostel scene would not have appealed.
