Dear All,

Following the huge success of the networking dinner for ladies, and to meet popular demand, we will be holding a networking dinner for men.

Please feel free to attend and mingle with fellow Western Expats; both long term residents or newbies just off the plane! A place to exchange teaching ideas and experiences, or just to relax and meet others from different professions and nationalities. Program for the evening includes: traditional beverages, dinner, dessert, and a cultural familiarization event.

We look forward to seeing you all.
Please feel free to bring male colleagues and friends along.
Just send us each Guest's name, nationality, occupation, email address and mobile.

ALL A BIT SUSPECT THIS!

Come on. Why would I be interested in bonding with a load of strange men. I am a male I don't want to mix with a load of males that want to mix with "a load of males". I want to bond with people. You know last time I looked women were people too.

I think you are recruiting. You know you are. Your post is really off topic.
...............

cultural familiarization event. ???? Hahahaha

Just send us each Guest's name, nationality, occupation, email address and mobile. ????? Ye spammed to death!
..............

Kuwait Cultural Complex, Grand Mosque. ????? Where's that then? What do they do there then?

............... Please

Why don't you attend and then come back and tell us if your suspicions were right or wrong. Considering the location, I wondered if this was the group that works with converts.

Networking for EFL Teachers? Huumm, what use is that? EFL teachers don't network. We are the bottom feeders of the expat world. Expats are shocked at our sad 1000KD salaries.

A: ' Pssst, I have the latest copy of Mario Rivodiculou's book'.
B: ' Mum's the word, wouldn't want it leaked to that lot over there'

Na.... it would just be abitchinfest with sad lifers like VS telling anyone who doesn't have an MA that they aren't teachers and can't get the 1200KD 'big money'.

Too bad Ms Boo is also so ignorant of my posts... as 'its' comment had every single detail wrong...

But then 'its' two posts have been so useful to us all...

Jumping onto a forum for the third time to take an arbitrary, uninformed dig at someone suggests you yourself may be in the throes of 'a sad life'. On 1400 KD when I left Kuwait last year, it was true that having an MA helped. The 1000 you're currently making without an MA may well embitter you, but it would be better to keep this angst to yourself.

And you with 8 posts taking the time out of your day to reply certainly indicates the same about you, now doesn't it!!! Esp as you can't find something better to do in the UAE of all places than reply to such a sad post!!!!!! Atleast I have an excuse!!

Have you? I'm having trouble seeing how being miserable in Kuwait gives you an excuse to be abusive. True, it can be a difficult place to live. Personally I was fortunate to have some great colleagues and students during the years I spent there. It's a good place to do some critical self-reflection- at least it worked for me! Wink

Posting a little something in response to those who take unprovoked, arbitrary digs at other posters doesn't seem like a waste of time...it only took a few moments.

Dear All,

I would like to thank you for the attention that you have afforded the topic.

The purpose behind the meeting is to promote cross cultural exchange; hence the 'cultural familiarization event'. The address is the bona fide address for the Kuwaiti Cultural Complex and can be located opposite the Head office for Burgan Bank.

Our next event will take place on Wednesday the 24th of January. If you are interested please send your details as previously requested to the email address provided or alternatively PM.(This is for catering purposes and to make sure that we have enough resources for the guests attending).

If you are interested in the attending the Ladies' event, please be informed that the event is this Thursday 18th at 7 P.M. Read the links below for more information.

OK...maybe I missed out here! Where do they make that much a month in Kuwait???? a bit confused..silly me!!! I have an MA and wasn't making that when I left Kuwait in 2003!

AND...if you've chosen to live in Kuwait...deal with it! It's not that bad!
