Living in the US, chose Toronto for interview

1/17 - re-faxed some documents that they couldn't read clearly
1/17 - received confirmation and a canadiate number, saying to wait until end of March
Good luck to everyone! |

I've noticed that someone got a reply saying to interview in March, but noticed they were going to be interviewing in Canada. Any news on people scheduled for interviews in Hong Kong?
It would be useful for those waiting for information if you posted if you have a degree in English/Ling, a teacher's certificate, and TESOL course. |

I applied December 07. Was told a week or two later that I would be interviewed late February/early March. Received an email last week saying interviews would be March 10-12 in Sydney. As I will be on holiday in HK on those dates, I requested an interview in HK. They said that should be OK and they will get back to confirm the date. Not exactly part of my holiday plan, but if it can be done then rather than later in the year that is fine. |

It seems that interviews outside Hong Kong receive callbacks earlier than those in Hong Kong.
I just got an email from someone at the NET application place and they stated that interviews will be through March until mid-April.
Quote: |
Interviews will be hosting during March to mid-April. Qualified candidates will be invited via email at least 2 weeks prior to the assigned interview date. |
Note the "at least 2 weeks prior" part. So, it seems that people will continue to receive invitations to be interviewed up through at least the end of March. Meaning, if you haven't gotten one yet, you may still get one.
Just a note in case you were, like me, expecting the invitations to come by the beginning of March. |

For those of you wondering about interview times and how things are progressing:
I just received an email setting up my appointment for a PNET interview in Hong Kong on March 31st.
I have a bachelor's in a modern language, TESOL credential (minor), and 2 years of university courses in secondary education, but no teaching certificate.
So if you are looking for an interview in HK and haven't been contacted yet, you should expect an email in the next 1-2 weeks I'd say. |

1. Snail-mailed application (Express) 12/30/07
2. Was e-mailed applicant number on 1/10/08 and told that if I hadn't heard further by March 8 (International Day of the Woman, guys) to forget it.
3. Invitation to interview on 3/28 e-mailed 3/4.
4. Invitation accepted 3/5. Acceptance acknowledged 3/10.
5. I'm sitting in a cool little cafe using a computer free of charge; in about 30 minutes I will walk across the street for my interview in the Wu Chung House.

I have an Hon. BA, English; MA English; TESOL Certificate; expired teacher certification (from US). This is my sixth year teaching abroad.
Can anyone recommend a (relatively) inexpensive hotel in a lively part of town? Why yes, try www.rentaroomhk.com

Hi there! I have a NET interview in HK next week and although I have a rough idea of where the interview venue is, can anyone tell me the nearest cross street or significant building? It is 213 Queens Rd East, WanChai. Thanks. |

Has anyone who applied for NET 2008(either Sec/Pr) from HK not yet heard about interviews? As I haven't heard, does that mean I won't be getting one? Any ideas? |

Feb. 15 - was emailed candidate number with the note "if you do not hear from us by March (beginning?end?) you may assume that your application is NOT successful.
No email yet.
oh, pretty qualified. I'd fall into Category 1--I believe from perusing the qualies.
could be they hire lower categories on purpose for $ reasons... |

Did anyone get a reply stating whether you passed the interview or that the EDB will hire you?
How long does it take them to go through all the applications and give a reply? |

So I guess it's a no go if I don't hear by today...I would have thought a certified teacher would at least get an interview, but I guess they must have lots of qualified, certified teachers for these jobs... |
