Can anyone suggest a quality brand of dog food that is affordable here in Mexico??
We use to feed Eukanuba but switched because it went up (and I just saw a bag the other day at over $1000 pesos! ) I am not happy with the food that the girls are currently eating but find it hard to find quality and affordability here (grocery stores = no and pet stores are limited and expensive). |

I suggest the mercado de abastos in one of the (probably 100's) of stores that specialize in dry goods and the such. |

I have only ever seen food like pedigree there. Sometimes they do have Euanuba but then it's comparable in store price. I have also only seen it sold out of it's original bag into small ones - and we need at least the large original bag (especially after the girls get their Great Dane brother... ) |

Simply because you don't have enough to do...
Why not make your own? I used to share with a corgi whose mum used to make a tasty looking mix of cheap offcuts of meat, rice and vegies. Might be a bit gross for the vegetarians in the household, so give the job to the omnivores.. |

I am actually leaning in that direction... |

Speaking of no running (or crawling) water, does anyone know the actual days each month the DF government will be turning off the supply of H2O in various delegaciones, including mine, damn it! |

The delagaciones shut the water down to a neighborhood when they're doing water line maintenance, which I think is every few years. Some neighborhoods have chronic water shortages, though when I lived in your hood, MO, we always had water. Your delegacion website should list water maintenance schedules if there are any.
Building pumps are another affair though. The building I'm in now has a terrible pump. Water comes in from the street just fine, but not to the apartments when the pump is down.

Unless you mean something else? Is the city government planning this? |

I do mean something else. There was an article about it in El Universal (and elsewhere I'm sure) a few days ago. Partly to fix leaks in the system and partly because the natural sources of water for the city are running lower than usual, there will be monthly 3-day periods of time for the next few months (not sure exactly how long this will go on) when the water supply will be cut off or at least be very minimal. However, the article did not specify when this would happen in each delegacin. Maybe I should check the website for mine, Cuauhtmoc. |

We are feeding the dogulator the Costco store brand (Kirkland) kibble. Have moved to "mature dog" forumulation because she is getting on in years. Is it really that bad for them? |

That's what we switched to from now too-expensive Eukanuba. We researched many brands, and the ingredients on the Kirkland stuff were a close match to Eukanuba. The dogs are healthy and fine, but their poops are softer than they should be. |

I used to give my waggstein small bones (again, offcuts from the butcher) every week as well as fairly high quality cooked food (looked like baloney but a lot nicer, with pasta and vegies) and her motions were great.
Got bones?
I had my dog when I was really poor, and I found that a lot of the homemade food varieties were a lot cheaper, and a lot better for my doggie's insides. |

Try Sam's, we picked up 25 kilos of dog food for under $200 pesos. That is cheap considering you pay $50 or so pesos for 2 kilos en el super. |
