You mean the highest paid job you can get without a relevant qualification? That's a bit like looking for the best bits at the bottom of the barrel. I would suggest getting a CELTA and then applying. Your one year of experience will then count, both on your cv and in giving a better chance of doing really well on the course. Don't get me wrong: the degree in English is nifty and relevant but it isn't generally regarded as a teaching qualification. The best conditions go to people with the right qualifications, generally speaking.

i figured that for sure, yet still wanted to know where, if anywhere in CIS, I could get the best for what I got right now.

All things considered, I would guess Kyiv would be your best bet.
Good luck!

..and they can see you coming before you even step-off the plane!
Things in Ukraine are pretty dire economically as well and many people are looking for 'sponsors' and escape routes.Ask any person there how they define a 'sponsor!!

That may be true in some cases Maruss. However, I lived in Ukraine for two years and the girls I met there weren't golddiggers by any means. Just my experience.

In spite of the current conditions, Maruss, attitudes in this part of the world have changed a lot over the last few years.

I'd have to caution people about living in Kiev now, due to the economic situation. A lot of foreign investment (and ex-pats) fled Ukraine after the Grivna devalued 50% against the dollar last fall when the financial crisis became serious. Ukraine went from boom to bust in the blink of an eye. Construction cranes went idle, English schools went under or shed teachers. The economy there is rotting. I left in February and things were not good. My friends tell me it's gotten worse, not better in the past few months. Ukraine is saddled with a huge amount debt and the IMF keeps loaning them money to keep them afloat and out of the grasp of the hungry bear to the northeast. If you can get on with one of the big schools (IH, LSE, etc) you might be okay. I know IH Kiev isn't hiring. They have fewer teachers on staff than last year which is indicative of the entire city, or so I am told.

The women in Kiev (under 45) are incredibly beautiful. However they seem at some point to morph into Shrek like babushkas. That's got to be tough.

I live in Eastern Europe (though it more the centre of it, really) and I suggest you do some research before you post.

I'm out in the wilds of Russia and the only trouble I've had is from the homicidal drivers.

Are you joking? The job market in Ukraine was lousy even when the economy was good (too many teachers chasing not enough jobs). Today it's utterly dismal (and yes I have recently talked first hand with the director of my old school who is being deluged with CV's).

The best place for jobs in the CIS is, as always, Moscow, because that's where the money is. and the difficult living conditions and visa restrictions tend to reduce the teacher pool.
