It's so quiet on this board recently.

So the deadline for the QP contract bids was Sept 21. Who ended up "winning?"

I'll try and check it out, not too many of the old boys left here anymore.
There are only about 30 teachers left: half are still down at the Gulag and the other half are down at Villagio Mall. The QP classrooms are on top of the movie theaters. However, the staff aren't allowed to go down to the Mall. The classrooms are first class with all the mod cons. The Gulag days are numbered as sooner or later the whole place will become rubble. The Gulag land is slated for new airport runways.

Nobody knows for sure or if they do, they haven't told the contract teachers. Get this!!

Bad news all round for Imtiaz contract teachers. Apparently, IMTIAZ hasn't been paid by QP for six months so they don't have enough money to pay the teachers. Initially IMTIAZ offered contract teachers 2000 a month; they said they can't pay more until they receive the money owed to them by QP. QP has more than enough money the amount they pay one teacher per month is not enough to keep one of the QP sponsored students in the US for one month!!!!! They have the funds! Those students cost a lot more than the teachers do!!

A later development apparently there is NO money at all to pay any of the contract teachers so they've all been fired! They sent them a letter telling them it's over and to vacate the apartments as soon as possible. No idea what QP will do with the students who will be left hanging if all the teachers leave. This is the worst horror story I've ever heard about any teaching establishment in Qatar. It even beats the horror stories you hear about QU. These people have really been left in the lurch. Shame on QP for the way it treats its staff. Some teachers are going to take them to court. Good luck! It will be a long-drawn out process, no doubt.

Some talk of the Salam Group. IMTIAZ is out. They were subcontracted by Griffith who haven't paid them since June so IMTIAZ doesn't have enough money to pay the teachers their full salaries. No word on whether Griffith will remain as the same subcontractors. They've had a sweet deal - get IMTIAZ to do all the dirty work and take all the crap. This Oz university is supposed to have a good reputation but this kind of thing makes you wonder....

The Salam group, huh? Haven't heard of them. You said elsewhere they wre retail? Well, that's what happens when people look at an education contract as the same as selling used cars.

Is Salam a Qatari outfit with the "proper" connections?

IMTIAZ has had a short-term reprieve. Mainly because they haven't finished negotiating with whoever will take over. Still talk of Salam Group.
IMTIAZ also has a sideline in Events Management. They have lost a lot of money with the QP gig as Griffith has not coughed up with the dough.

The teachers have been dumped on, shoved in and out of housing and not received their salaries or entitlements. A few more left just before Christmas they quit as they might have a better chance of getting a job in January than hanging around waiting until who knows when.

The teachers are staying on with IMTIAZ until the end of the month after which they are supposed to be working for the new subcontractor. No one is sure if the subcontractor will keep them on but for the moment apparently QP has instructed the new subcontractor to keep the teachers for the next few months until they sort out their staffing needs. They are still staying temporarily in the Musherib caves.

Does anyone know the name of the new QP subcontractor? I have just heard from a recruiter that I had sent a resume off to a few months ago for a possible position with QP.

I have read many comments about QP and I have the impression that things have not been great there in the past. What is the current situation like? Any info would be helpful.

I have a position lined up in KSA with Interlink/Yamamah but am having some serious second thoughts based on recent postings about the place. I just can't decide if I should forget the position in KSA and go for a position at QP.

All advice will be appreciated.

An outfit called Studio Cambridge is advertising for positions in "energy" industry. Who are they recruiting for? QP perhaps?

Apparently Salam Group has. They are already running the math and IT program so will take over the English language program.

People still in the dark. Some are joking that Malachy may come back.
Griffith has made a big mess and the teachers and staff are the victims.
