|
|
Hi All,
So Ive come to the end of my cherished reading materials--not that there was much. Is there anyone out there who has any interesting, well-written fiction they are willing to swap or lend (no Harlequin romance or Nancy Drew please)? I have had enough reality for a while so I do have to insist on fiction. I have Steven Pinkers, The Language Instinct , Alan Weismans, The World Wiithout Us,and David Lidas, First Stop in the New World. Im happy to provide my thoughts on them all but there are plenty out there in the ether who already have. Im happy to lend them but I think I would like to have them returned to me when youre done. Parting with books has never been easy for me. Im seeking help though. Maybe a book swap is in order if enough of you are famished for something tactile to read. Thoughts....? |

Hmmm...sounds like we should have another get together/book swap. What about Saturday, July 10th? |

I have a dog-eaten copy of The Pillars of the Earth. |

Notamiss, if your dog liked it, Im sure I will too...
Guy, I might be incapacitated that weekend--the 9th is my birthday and friends have threatened me with their tradition of taking me on the town to celebrate. Ive been warned that resistance is futile. I might be conscious by the Sunday. Conversely what about an evening later in the week---this one or next? |

It was Guys dog(s)! I got the book from him at the last book swap. |

I too have a dog-gnawed-upon book from Guy's library! |

If y'all like, I'll set out a pile of books for the dog - and now baby with teeth - to chew for the next swap. |

hey guy,
do you train the dog the same way as you train baby...giving up your nose for gnawing practice? |

If you don't mind slightly dog-gnawed, or missing cover books, I have quite a few as well. What the heck is it with dogs? Do they turn into book chewing maniacs here for some reason? I have never had one chew books before this one, but they are still readable. |

Looks there are a few who have heard my distress signal. How about setting a date? Almost any weekday evening is fine for me except this friday. The next 2 weekends unfortunately are out, though with that said Sunday July 11th afternoon or evening would work. Others...? |

Evenings don't work for me (unless you all want to come down here to the south). |

Sunday the 11th works for me...has to be early afternoon though.
Can someone suggest a good spot in Roma, Condesa, or environs, maybe a cafe or library? |

Where was that little museum or gallery that you met in 2 or 3 years ago? I wasn't there but I remember from the report that you met at a picturesque little coffee shop or light restaurant in the courtyard. It looked nice. |

Franz Meyer museum, just across from Parque Alameda maybe?
http://www.franzmayer.org.mx/index2.html
It's right behind the Palacio de Bellas Artes, at metro Bellas Artes.
How does that sound? It's open Sundays from 10 AM to 7 PM. |
