A couple years ago I had an agreement with Teachaway for a job in Abu Dhabi but due to a family illness I couldn't go. Anyway I would like to find another job in Abu Dhabi but wasn't to sure how to go about it. I just wanted to know if there were any other options outside of Teachaway that I could look into. I am certified teacher with over 5 year teaching experience as well a teaching license in ESL. Where should I start looking? Please help!

Why not reapply to Teachaway? They are pretty much the best option unless you can luck into one of the top International Schools. (they are very competitive)

teachers-teachers.com is also recruiting for ADEC. Good luck!

I saw the ad by teachers-teaches. I wanted to know more about the international schools though.

Their website is down. IS this permananet or just a temporary thing?

Naturegirl try again. I just checked the site and it seems to be up and running. You may need to register to see the ad.

Several recruiting agencies are hiring for ADEC. The above-mentioned, as well as Caneducom and Teachanywhere. They're hiring at least 1500 English teachers to start in August/September this year. (Probably 100+ more for December.)

I'm unsure of the meaning of permanent or temporary. I was under the impression that any job I took would have a minimum of 2 year contract.

I was interested in finding out about international schools and where to start.

As for canaducom does anyone have any information on them in terms of pay and placement and overall teacher satisfaction?

Why use a recruiter if you can apply directly to ADEC? Correct me if I'm wrong and ADEC doesn't do its own direct recruitment.

Using recruiters can mean a lower package simply because they have to make money somewhere. Maybe the arrangement with Caneducom is different?

As for placement and satisfaction, I would doubt if the recruiter has any say in either - ADEC would place you where they need you which may or may not be a place you prefer.

helenl - I had heard (from someone, not sure who) that ADEC did not hire foreign teachers directly and that one *had* to go through one of their recruiters. I'm not sure, as I started out using a recruiter.
