|
|
Dave's ESL Cafe will soon inaugurate an Off-Topic Forum as part of the Mexico Forum along the lines of the present China Off-Topic Forum.
All board policies, ToS, guidelines, etc., presently in effect on the Mexico Forum, will also apply to the Mexico Off-Topic Forum. The Off-Topic Forum will only be available to Dave's ESL Cafe members that are signed in. If you are not signed in, the Off-Topic Forum will not appear or be available to you.
We hope that you enjoy the new Mexico Off-Topic Forum and we encourage all members to pass along suggestions for improvement or report inappropriate postings and behavior to the Mod Team by Report Post or PM.
This thread will temporarily remain unlocked pending the appearance of the Off-Topic Forum. Moderators will not engage in discussions on this thread but will be monitoring all postings for suggestions and such regarding the new forum.
Postings commenting on or questioning Mod actions/decisions are not appropriate for this thread or any thread on this board:

The new forum will give us a chance to talk about (describe, complain and praise) Mexico to our hearts' content, within the guidelines of the ESL Caf, of course. It may also be a recognition of the popularity of the Mexico Forum! |

So basically we're dividing up into 2 areas what we already do in just 1.
But nothing new really, is it? |

But it allows those looking for jobs info to avoid wading through threads about the price of avocados! |

Or mass decapitations! But yeah, those pesky avocado price comments are to be avoided like the plague. |

So will threads that suffer topic drift into or out of ESL-relevance be moderated out of one forum and into the other? |

Moderator,
Why would you limit who can read the off-topic forum by requiring people to log in?
Lots of people "browse" before they sign up. |

I enter Dave's and see what is new. If there is anything of interest to me i then sign in so i can comment on it. Now i have the obligation of signing in prior to seeing if there is anything i want to comment on. Its a small bother but a bother nonetheless. Anonymity is irrelevant for me, i simply dont like that im obliged to sign in. |
