Thanks for the info about the books. This brought me to what I believe is my real question: Is there a book that only deals with grammar irregularities? Preferably something written with a bit of levity like:

An Ounce of Grammar Is Worth a Pound of Controversy

or

Olde School Grammar for the Nu Skool Teacher?

Dear Stephen,

I beg to differ. There is a distinct difference between phrasing and pronunciation.

that "particular organism"..."the name of the ones"...

Grammatically correct within the islolation of the one sentence...yes. Contextually right to be consistent with the paragraph/essay? i would say ...confusing. "One" would be the most correct ( the way tests word it) answer, the clearest answer

that particular organism... what is the name of that one... To say you want the name of the ones would possibly imply that more than one type of organism attacked you..not clear

I want the name of that one, that particular , unique type of virus.

Sentences that are grammatically correct can still be wrong Smile

Dear Andrew,
Let's rephrase it then.

The two sentences sound exactly the same, except for the substitution of the 'v' for the 'z'.
