This is such a welcome relief from trials of holding down a Celta-shilling job. A veritable tonic! |
I don't see how this is taking a break from shilling CELTA.
You forgot the 'HIC".
From all your posts. |

If you understand why Barney and Sesame Street work then you understand why a CELTA doesn't work (beyond doing lesson planning) in a YL setting.
If you don't then stick to big kids or adults.
A 3 year old is NOT 1/2 of a 6 year old is NOT 1/2 of a 12 year old is NOT 1/2 of a 24 year old.
Beyond that, at young to very young ages they are not learning "EFL/ESL" they are simply "learning language" through natural acquisition (their linguistic skills are not well developed in any language yet).
Grammar is the old lady who lives across town (ie: your mother's mother).

i have a celta and have taught kids.
aside from lesson planning and getting comfortable with games, the celta doesn't help a lot withkids. |

Ah, so they both thought the CELTA was useful for lesson planning even with young kids. What a SURPRISE!! It wasn't useless |

You're kidding right?
You don't seriously expect anyone to believe that any old TEFL course,,, like the online one I took don't cover lesson planning?
My God you are obtuse. |

I have no idea what fantasy you're living with this remark.
You have never worked here, never taught a single lesson here, never gone job hunting here.
You have absolutely no idea whatsoever what is required to be successful in a classroom here in VN.
Here's a hint- it ain't a TEFL cert to teach adults.

Don't forget QED.
Dubious use of it, but who cares? The kids'll never find us out... |

And today's example is people who have never, ever worked in VN coming to the VN board to argue with posters who have taught in VN for years and years about what skills they need to teach in VN.
Watch how they pretend not to understand simple facts while at the same time claiming to be better than the whole world at understanding the English language.
Faced with multiple posters from multiple threads supporting those basic facts? No problem just get even more obtuse while engaging in chitchat with the only poster in the whole world willing to prostrate themselves for the wayward friend. |
